Kotex Natural Balance Tampon Recall November 2011

Last week, Kimberly-Clarks company announced their product recall of Kotex Natural Balance* Security® Unscented Tampons Regular Absorbency.  It was reported that the recall targeted a limited number of products distributed in specific stores in the United States.

The tampons were manufactured with raw material contaminated with Enterobacter sakazakii bacterium.  The bacteria, which had been associated in rare cases of powdered infant formula, could cause health risks such as UTI, vaginal infections and other infections that can be life threatening.

Two affected product part numbers/SKUs are 15063 (18 count) and 15068 (36 count).  The part numbers can be found at the bottom of the package.  The products were shipped to specific Walmart, Fry’s, and Smith’s stores between October 29, 2011 and November 2, 2011 .

If you have and use Kotex Natural Balance* Security® Unscented Tampons Regular Absorbency with the following batch number,  please  stop using it immediately.  Please call Kimberly-Clarks customer service  at 1-800-335-6839 so the right product information can be obtained.  As the company is trying to retrieve the unused products, you may be asked to make an arrangement to send the unused products back to them.

Please also call your doctor if you have used the affected product and experience unusual discharge, vomiting, fever or abdominal pains.

It was reported that the affected products had been removed from the shelves.
