Holiday Assistance in Summit County

The Salvation Army provides Holiday Assistance for people in need during the holidays. They Partner with Toys for Tots to provide gifts and toys for kids ages 14 and under, and offer holiday food baskets for households with or without children.

Must provide the following:

  • PHOTO ID: Social Security Card AND Valid Drivers License or State Identification Card
  • PROOF OF ALL CURRENT INCOME: Pay stubs for last 30 days, ODJFS printout, child support papers, SSI/SSD letters, Worker’s Comp statement, rent subsidy/utility allowance stubs. Note: A Health Card is not proof of income.
  • PROOF OF ALL BILLS: Includes Lease/Mortgage papers, utilities, car payments, insurance payments, child care, any other bills
  • PROOF OF ALL CHILDREN IN HOUSEHOLD: Must provide a Social Security card for all children or a printout from Job and Family Services with Social Security numbers listed for all children
  • PROOF OF OTHER ADULTS IN HOUSEHOLD: Must provide either a photo ID or a Social Security card

An application must be completed at the office on one of the scheduled days.

Holiday Assistance in Summit County – Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Baskets, Gifts, and Toys for Kids

East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation provides limited Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for low-income seniors and families with children during the holiday seasons and gifts and toys for low-income households with children during the Christmas holiday season.Walk in to apply for assistance during 2011 sign-ups at 550 South Arlington Street Akron, Ohio 44306. They serve Summit County families with children age 16 and under and seniors 65 and older. Will not assist households who have already signed up for 2011 holiday assistance through another agency or program.

Documents required:Must provide a photo ID, Social Security cards for all members of the household, proof of income and proof of address.
Also provides homeowner counseling, HUD counseling, lead paint abatement, money management, mortgage payment assisance, weatherization programs in Summit County.

Holiday Assistance in Summit County and beyond (everyone welcome) – Toys and Clothes

Friendship Apostolic Church offers a one-day distribution of new and used toys as well as new and used clothing for all ages on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Everyone is welcome, no restrictions.

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church provides special food baskets for low-income residents in the 44310 zip code during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Food pantry available 3rd and 4th Tuesday and Thursday too.

Holiday Assistance in Barberton, Norton, Clinton and Canal Fulton, Ohio

Adventist Community Services provides holiday food baskets for low-income community residents during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with a social service organization referral.  Must provide the last four digits of the Social Security number for each household member, a photo ID, and a current utility bill. Hours:Monday and Tuesday: 9:00am to 3:00pm (Closed 12-1pm). Also offers clothing and household goods and furniture.

Holiday Assistance in Copley, Fairlawn, and Bath, Ohio – Food Baskets, Toys, and Coats

Holiday Assistance for families in need in Copley, Fairlawn, and Bath residing in the Copley-Fairlawn School District. Families with kids 17 and under will be provide food by Kiwanis, toys by Copley Police Department, and coats by Outreach Center. There is a brief mandatory interview on Dec 1 and Dec 4th at Copley Community Center. Fill out this application before the interview.

Holiday Assistance in Copley, Ohio – Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter Food Baskets

Copley Outreach Center Service offers special food baskets for low-income individuals and families in the Copley Fairlawn School District on major holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas (individual & families), and Easter. Offers special food baskets for low-income individuals and families without children for the Christmas holiday. Pre-registration for Thanksgiving Baskets ends on November 15th, 2011.  Pre-registration for Christmas Baskets ends on December 15th, 2011. Must provide proof of address. Tuesday and Friday: 10:00am to 2:00pm
They also offer clothing, food pantry on Tuesdays and Fridays, and temporary financial aid.

Holiday Assistance for Military Families in Ohio

Our Adopt-A-Family program is for enlisted military families in need of holiday assistance in Ohio. Sponsors of families are required to provide $50-$100 for a holiday meal for the family, as well as $25-$75 per child for holiday gifts.

Requirements for this program:

  • Active Duty
  • E1-E6
  • Currently residing in Ohio
  • Willing to provide appropriate documentation (LES, ID, Deployment Orders (if currently deployed), Documentation of combat injury (if wounded).
  • Have not participated in OH Ohio’s Adopt-A-Family program for more than 2 years.
  • Able to describe why you are in need of assistance this year.
