Kung Zhu Pets Special Forces vs Ninja with Arena Review

At Christmas, all kids wanted Zhu Zhu cute and cuddly pets. Kung Zhu Pets are still adorable but only until they get into the arena when they turn into armored fighting machines! Mom Select and Zhu Zhu Pets gave us the chance to test these interactive toys and put their amazing smart chip technology to the test. Let me tell you now, we are now huge Kung Zhu fans!

Kung Zhu Warriors in Action in the Giant Battle Arena

Our whole family have had fun since the Kung Zhu Pets came to live with us! It is actually a toy that we can all play with and just have plain silly fun! My husband had fun shooting this video of the kids. Check out the video below to watch the Kung Zhu Special Forces battle it out against the Kung Zhu Ninja Warriors!

What is Kung Zhu?

These are not the original cute and sweet Zhu Zhu Pets. Kung Zhu pets are fighting, battling warriors. They actually start out making cute hamster sounding grunts and noises, then the smart chip technology kicks in once they hit the Battle Arena. Their battling and ninja sounds come out! There are 8 different Kung Zhu pets to choose from from 2 teams, Special Forces and Ninja Warriors.

We have the Kung Zhu Special Forces Rivet in the Kung Zhu Special Forces Armor Ambushbattle gear. This little guy was my daughter’s favorite. She liked him with his guns that pop off from the sides.  Elijah took ownership of the Kung Zhu Ninja Warrior Yama in the Kung Zhu Ninja Warriors Drayko Shadow battle gear. This one has a sword and side spears to fight opponents.

Kung Zhu Giant Battle Arena

The Kung Zhu Battle Arenais where all the action takes place. It includes a 2-piece battle arena that is easily assembled, 2 entrance tunnels, 8 flags, and 2 U connectors.  The U connectors are the best when it comes to adding the training grounds that lead up to the arena so you don’t have very long tunnels covering your entire living room! It’s just like an arena with the inverted dome shape for the hamsters to battle around in. Without their gear, they can easily fall over, it’s so funny to hear them make their little battling sounds, especially when they do fall over. Battle gear is essential for any Kung Zhu.

Kung Zhu Special Forces Training Ground

There is so much action going on as the hamsters go through their training grounds, breaking through walls, flipping over rotating doors, through tunnels, and around obstacles. They are so funny, sometimes they stop and reverse for a second like they are getting their courage up to go to the next training ground, plus they make hilarious noises the whole time.

In the arena, Kung Zhu Special Forces hamsters have a secret weapon called the Kung Zhu Missile Attack Tower. When a Ninja Warrior bumps up against the level in the arena, they are attacked by 2 missiles! You can also activate it yourself which is what my kids like to do! The poor Zhu Zhu pets have no chance with my kids shooting the missiles!

Before the Kung Zhu pets enter the arena, they need to be well trained and prepared by going through the training grounds. The Special Forces Training Ground Bravo sends the hamsters out to storm the beach around the guard and then smash through a giant bunker wall! Crash! Very cool. You do have to set up the bunker wall after he crashes through each time. My 5 year old had to show me how to piece the simple 4 pieces together the very first time. Amazing how kids can do that to parents! ha ha

After Bravo, we have the Kung Zhu Special Forces Training Ground Alpha to get our hamsters ready. Here they have to make it through the bayonet maze, giant wall climb, and barbed wire battle tunnel. The barbed wire is fake of course, however it looks so realistic.

Kung Zhu Ninja Training Ground

The Ninjas need their own training ground too to test their skills and train to become the ultimate warrior.

While in the arena, the Ninjas have a tool to smash the competition! The Kung Zhu Dragon Hammer will stop the special forces hamsters in their tracks with the bump sensor!  BONK! My kids love it when the hamsters get bonked by the hammer! Boy do the hamsters complain with their smart chip technology!

The Kung Zhu Ninja Warrior Training Ground Fire Pit Agility Course trains the hamsters how to cross a log bridge, leap across stepping stones, avoid the blazing Katanas of fire, and run through the gauntlet or attack dummies. Seems like the ninja warriors are a lot tougher than the special forces hamsters in their training methods!

Next, the Ninja Warriors go on through the intense Kung Zhu Ninja Warrior Training Ground Boulder Push and Draw Bridge Agility Course. They’ve gotta “jump” through the leap of faith danger curve and push through the boulder-push draw bridge. Ours is so funny, each time, our Yama hamster backs up for the leap of faith a bit uncertain, but then plows right through the boulder! My kids think it’s the best and I agree because it gives me lots of giggles to hear from my kiddos.
