See Put-in-Bay in a whole new way with Kayak the Bay. This family-friendly kayak rental company is located along the downtown harbor next to Oak Point State Park. After a few minutes of basic instruction, you are ready to explore!!
I received rentals to facilitate this post.
Kayak the Bay
There is so much to see and explore when you rent a kayak with Kayak the Bay. We were excited to kayak around the bay to get an up close look at nature, the islands, and beautiful sail boats in the harbor
Kids are welcomed but are required to be with an adult – not necessarily in the same kayak but with kids 16 and under. You can even bring your dog with you! Choose from single or double seated kayaks.
We explored the island and rocky shores. We were amazed at the massive limestone rocks along the islands’ shoreline and had fun kayaking around them and through them. There was even a Needle’s Eye by Gibraltar but we weren’t sure if we could make it through being the amateurs that we are!
The limestone rocks were amazing, it looked and felt like we were in a tropical destination, not in Ohio!
Next, we also went to a lagoon where we saw a blue crane and huge eagle’s nest! It was so cool to be so close to nature. My kids loved it!
This was our first time kayaking, and we were all smiles the entire time. My kids are still talking about it and can’t wait to go back! I love having brand new shared experiences with my children. It is what memories are made of!
For more experienced kayakers, there is so much more you can do with Kayak the Bay kayak rentals! You can even paddle all the way over to Middle Bass Island to explore. I’d love to do this in a couple years when my kids are a little older, it’ll be our own way of island hopping!
There is so much to see when you are kayaking, it’s like you are exploring a whole new destination.
They even offer a place to put your belongings while on the kayak and even sell items like dry bags for cameras and phones that you want to take with you. Be sure to bring a swimsuit or change of clothes because you will get at least a little wet. We didn’t do this and had soggy bottoms for the rest of the day! ha!
If you are going to Put-In-Bay, be sure to put Kayak the Bay on top of your list of things to do! You’ll have a fabulous time!
