The Akron Rib, White and Blue! Akron’s National Rib Festival runs July 1 – July 4, 2011. Admission is FREE into Lock 3 all 4 nights! For additional fee, enjoy Red Hot Rides & Amusing Amusements with fair style rides on Main Street and the inflatable jumpers inside Lock 3. The Magical-Train returns again this year to give rides along the towpath and through the park.

Orrville Firefighters Independence Day Celebration Carnival at Orr Park – the carnival includes amusement rides from Bates Amusement, Inc., carnival games, and great carnival food. The carnival will open at 12:00 noon and close at 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29 – July 3, 2011.
8th annual “Fire in the Sky” Girls 14u ASA Fast Pitch Softball Tournament – Tournament play will continue starting at 8:00 a.m. on at Orr Park on Mizer Field, the Back Diamond, fields #1 & #2, and limited play on the diamond at the Orrville Christian Church on Elm Street. Hudson Ohio Fireworks on July 2, 2011
Proud of Hudson fireworks will be on Sat, July 2, with a rain date of Sunday, July 3. The show will take place on the grounds of Barlow Farm Park. The theme for this year’s fireworks campaign is “Proud to be American. Proud to be in Hudson.” This is fitting because Fourth of July fireworks are more than an American tradition; they are a long-standing Hudson tradition.

The Kent Ohio Fireworks and Kent Heritage Festival will be on July 2, 2011. This annual, all day celebration features the Jeff Graham Memorial Fireworks, Kent Historic Train Rides (sponsored by the Kent Chamber), Ducks over the Falls, Live music and entertainment all day on three stages, 5K & 10 Race & one mile fun run, Children’s Play area, well over 100 food and craft booths, and many more local displays.

Fairlawn Ohio Fireworks on July 3, 2011
Fairlawn Ohio Fireworks and Concert will take place on July 3, 2011 at Bicentennial Park located on South Smith Road. and Fourth of July Parade
The annual free outdoor concert will feature a two hour performance by the Brass Band of the Western Reserve beginning at 8:00 pm followed by a brilliant fireworks display beginning around 10:00 pm.
The Peterman Bus Company will be running free shuttles to and from Summit Mall to Bicentennial Park in Fairlawn to ease parking and traffic congestion. The shuttle may be picked up beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the east parking lot of Dillards. The Fairlawn City Women’s Club and Boy Scout Troop 380 will be selling refreshments during the event.
Wadsworth Ohio Fireworks on July 3, 2011
Wadsworth Ohio Fireworks will be on July 3, 2011 at Memorial Park, Ault St. off College St. This park has 47.8 acres; picnic tables and grills, three shelters, electricity, hiking trails, playground equipment, tot lot play area, restrooms, parking lot, park benches, softball field, two tennis courts, ice skating, sand volleyball, fishing pond. Plan to arrive early to enjoy the park.

City of Akron features the Akron Symphony Orchestra in a pops concert on Monday, July 4. American music classics begin at 3pm with the River City Jazz Band, and continues with the Brass Band of the Western Reserve. The Akron Symphony under the direction of Christopher Wilkins will perform with a grand fireworks finale inside Lock 3 at night.

The concert concludes with Tchaikovsky’s “1812” Overture, a traditional Fourth-of-July ending. The Cleveland Orchestra offers up a program of patriotic music and audience favorites in this holiday weekend presentation. Tickets start at just $19. Under 18 are Free for Lawn Pass seating with paid adult ticket. Fireworks follow the concert, weather permitting.

Fairlawn Ohio 4th of July Parade stepping off at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4 in front of Fairlawn Town Center. The Fairlawn Area Chamber of Commerce is the main sponsor behind bring the parade back to Fairlawn! The parade route heads west on West Market Street to Ghent Road and ends in the Dillard’s parking lot at Summit Mall where trophies will be handed out to floats, marching units, bands and novelty units.

The Hereford/ Highland Area Block Watch will be on July 4, 2011 at 1pm. Children are encouraged to decorate their bicycles and scooters or create a float for the event. Prizes will be awarded for best decorations. Registration and lining up for participants will begin at 12:45 p.m. at Hereford Park. The parade will begin at 1 p.m.
Castle Park Fourth of July Parade on July 4, 2011
Castle Park area will host its annual Fourth of July Parade July 4 at 10:30 a.m. on Castle Boulevard. The parade will step off at the intersection of Dartmouth Avenue and Castle. Registration will take place from 10 to 10:25 a.m. There is a 50-cent registration fee for participants. Certificates and prizes will be awarded for the most patriotically creative in the following categories: Bikes and Trikes, Wagons and Strollers, Walkers and Rollerbladers, and Best Dressed Pet. All Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and U.S. veterans also are invited to march in the parade. The Jaycees North Canton Ohio Fireworks and Parade is on July 4, 2011. The celebration begins with a parade — from North Canton Memorial Stadium to Main Street and downtown — at 10:30 a.m. The Celebration in the Park begins at 6 p.m. and ends with fireworks at dusk.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo “Red, White & Zoo” holiday is on July 4 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the zoo will feature holiday-themed animal enrichment demonstrations. Throughout the day, animal keepers will prepare red, white and blue treats for some of the zoo’s animals, including primates, polar bears, seals and sea lions. Other highlights will include Professor Wylde’s Live Animal Show and giraffe feedings. Admission is $11 per person, $8 for ages 2 to 11 and free for children younger than 2 and zoo members.
