We finally got a chance this week to use our Akron Zoo membership as a family and view the newest exhibit at Summit County’s no. 1 tourist attraction. We definitely could not get enough of Mike and Mary Stark Grizzly Ridge!
From the tall, wooden bear at the entrance to the adorable, fuzzy grizzly bear that splashed around in his habitat, my children were totally thrilled. They kept making sure we still were at “our” zoo!
I, personally, never had such a close encounter with grizzly bears and felt like a kid again as I quickly snapped photos.
That child-like feeling remained as I chose to slide down the clear tube that runs right through the river otter exhibit. My girls loved the experience, especially because an otter swam right over top of them while they slid down. My son could have stood watching the otters for hours!
Kudos to Akron Zoo for offering the community such a wonderful new experience and at a level where a breathtaking view of the city also can be observed. We truly enjoyed every aspect of Akron Zoo’s Grizzly Ridge.
In addition to grizzly bears, the exhibit features red wolves, coyote, a walk through aviary and bald eagles.
