Next time you are searching for a family activity, lace up those sneakers, pack a picnic and prepare to take in the beauty of nature at the Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, OH.
I recently was seeking an inexpensive and enjoyable, outside activity to do with my husband and children on my birthday. My search revealed Holden Arboretum.
Admission to the various garden collections and walking trails that make up Holden Arboretum is $6 an adult, or $5 an adult when you show your AAA card. Admission is free for children 5-years-old and younger and $3 for children ages 6-12.
The grounds offer gorgeous plants and flowers for viewing; several trails for hiking; numerous ponds; picnic areas; a gift shop and more. We spent the majority of our time exploring the breathtaking Butterfly Garden.
My children had an amazing time walking around and smelling the flowers.
I love that all the vegetation is labeled. I even got a few ideas for my own flower beds!
The Holden Arboretum offers a plethora of programs all year long. For a complete list visit: http://www.holdenarb.org/home/. Guided tours and tram rides also are available. We enjoyed simply making our own way around the grounds. It was a fun little adventure for our family!
