Welcome to our guest post contributor, Tracy Zdelar, a fellow mommy blogger of Hall of Fame Moms from Canton, Ohio.
I once was the small-town girl from the New Phila-Dover, Ohio area afraid to drive to Canton- big city that it is ;). I have now lived in the Canton area for about 12 years and I blog about it too.
Are there fun things to do in the Canton, Ohio area?
Yes! I enjoy living within close proximity to parks, Discovery World/ McKinley and First Ladies museums, multiple libraries and having my choice of multiple Starbucks, McDonald’s (I review the playlands), Walmarts, Giant Eagles, Rite Aids, and Walgreens to shop and play at. If you’re a big coupon – rebate user you’d appreciate it! (You’ll find some reviews at my blog).
Canton, Ohio Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival
You may have heard of the Pro Football Hall of Fame festival coming up the first week in August. It draws thousands, tens of thousands of visitors (is probably more true) to our area every year. Highlights of the week are the Kent-Stark Balloon Lift-off, HOF Enshrinement ceremony, fireworks, parade (more!) and ends with the Pro Football Hall of Fame game.
Canton, Ohio First Friday’s
We have First Friday’s. The First Friday of every month you can enjoy evening activities in downtown Canton. We have pottery shops where you can make your own, Laser Quest, Grand Slam (indoor/outdoor sporty fun) and just up the road in Canal Fulton we have Slugger’s and Putter’s. You’ve been there, right? They have miniature race-cars, wall climbing, putt-putt, bumper boats, bumper cars and more.
Canton, Ohio Shopping
Besides shopping at the usual haunts like Old Navy, Marshall’s, Border’s and Starbucks at The Strip; Victoria’s Secret, Gap, Dillard’s, Macy’s, and more at the Westfield Belden Village mall we have quaint smaller specialty stores around the area such as in Lake Cable on Fulton Rd.. Oh yeah, and golf: Tam O’ Shanter, Glenmoor, Bob ‘O Link…
Canton, Ohio Restaurants
There are lots of restaurants in Canton to choose from – to name a few: Apple Bees, TGIF, Macaroni Grill, Red Lobster, Don Pablos, Chili’s, Chuck E. Cheese, as well as a variety of fast food stores.
Besides all the local information I share at my blog, I do family-friendly product and trip reviews and giveaways. With the majority of my US readers coming from Ohio – I look forward to discovering new things in the Canton area (and Ohio at-large) to share with my readers.

Great post, Tracy–this fellow ChevyGirl may have to head down to Canton once in awhile when we get bored here in Akron!
If talking about places to eat in Canton, you can’t leave out locally-owned Taggart’s. Totally unique to Canton, it’s been around since the 20’s and you feel the historic charm even as you enter. It’s got lots of great, affordable food, but don’t even think of not ordering ice cream! As a matter of fact, there are many local food places without ever having to go to a big-named chain.
