Celebrate MLK Day Locally and Virtually: MLK Summit in Hudson and Soldiers’ Angels Volunteer Opportunity

As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day, our community in Ohio has a wealth of opportunities to honor Dr. King’s legacy through both local and virtual events. This year, we’re highlighting a special local event in Hudson, along with a virtual volunteering opportunity that allows us to extend our impact beyond our local community.

MLK Summit in Hudson, Ohio

Join an enlightening and engaging MLK Summit on January 15th from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm at Christ Community Chapel in Hudson, Ohio. This event is a fantastic opportunity for families in our community to come together to celebrate the life and teachings of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Event Details:

  • Reading and Discussion: We’ll be reading Dr. King’s impactful “Letter from Birmingham Jail” and discussing our roles as individuals and as a community in addressing issues of unity and justice.
  • Activities for All Ages: Childcare is available for children from birth through pre-K, and there will be age-appropriate discussions and activities for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade.
  • Dinner Provided: Enjoy a meal together as a community. The event is completely free, but registration is required for planning purposes.
  • Contact for More Info: For questions, please reach out to Mike.Holwerda@ccchapel.com.

This is a wonderful way to engage in meaningful conversation and reflection as a family.

Virtual Volunteering with Soldiers’ Angels

In addition to our local celebration, we can extend our service by participating virtually with Soldiers’ Angels. This MLK Day, they are seeking virtual volunteers to help prepare and send care packages to Service Members deployed around the world.

Why Participate:

  • Support from Afar: Your care package will bring comfort and a sense of home to Service Members in remote locations.
  • Family Involvement: It’s an accessible way for families, including kids, to actively participate in a service project right from home.
  • Easy to Join: Pledge your support by visiting Soldiers’ Angels MLK Day of Service Campaign.

About Soldiers’ Angels
