Celebrate Summer at Wildwater Kingdom in Aurora, Ohio
There is no better time than now to head to Wildwater Kingdom in Aurora, Ohio for a fantastic day in the sun. Although back to school shopping is on most of our minds, a trip to Wildwater Kingdom will get your focus back on the last days of summer and spending quality time with your family.
My family has purchased season passes the past two summers and couldn’t be more pleased with our experience – and the value. It’s great to invite extended family and friends to join the fun. My parents, sister, niece, and nephews joined us on a recent trip and we had a blast!
The Tidal Wave Bay wave pool is one of our favorite spots – it is where we start day at the water park every single time! It’s fantastic fun for everyone – kids and parents included. Don’t be afraid to get in and get wet yourself, you’ll have a lot more fun than just sitting on the sidelines.
Here’s a picture of with me, my mom, and sister. This is what a girls night out should look like -all smiles and fun!! I’m all about sharing experiences with family and friends, it’s a great way to create memories that will last forever.
On our way to the bucket area, my dad’s flip flops broke, thankfully the gift shop offers practical items as well as gifts! Plus, the prices are great!
We like to hang out at as much as possible at Wildwater Kingdom Splash Landing Family Activity Center! This is where the main attraction is -the tipping bucket!! There are also many other buckets, wheels, levers, and other ways to get soaked and to soak unsuspecting people. This is one of my daughter’s favorite activities – dumping buckets of water, especially on people that are still dry! There are plenty of slides at this area with next to no waiting too.
If you have toddlers and young children, the attached kiddie area is perfect for them. The zero depth entry is perfect. I think the max depth is less than 2 feet, but you still need to keep an eye on the little ones that aren’t sturdy on their feet! There are two slides for the young kids that are just right for them.
Next to this area is Liquid Lightning, the 60 foot slide that sends up to 4 people at at time down the dark tunnel and spits them out into the giant cone shaped opening. Everyone screams with excitement! My kids love this ride!
There are several places to stop for lunch or snacks throughout the park. I prefer Happy Harbor Cafe because it sits toward the back of the park and it offers a nice relaxing retreat. The food it great too! The meals are large for any appetite. The kids menu is perfect for children. I also suggest buying the souvenir cup whether you plan to go for just 1 day or all season long. Refills on the day of purchase are FREE and only $1 thereafter. Plus, water is always FREE.
Another favorite area for us is Coral Cove Activity Pool. My kids can spend 1-2 hours here easily every single time we go. There are 2 levels of pools with many activities like water basketball, whirlpool, sprays, waterfalls, volcano, and floating things to climb on.
When you want to dry off for a while, head on over to the Thunder Falls Water Slide Complex area where you’ll find a beach area with plenty of outdoor sports. Play a game of life size chess…
Play a game of tether ball…
Or go searching for dinosaur bones!
For the little ones, there is a large grassy area filled with Little Tikes play equipment and houses.
Don’t forget to spiral down the water slides!!! There are both raft slides and body slides to choose from. All of them provide quite a thrill!
We usually end our day at Wildwater Kingdom at Riptide Run, the 1,100 feet lazy river. Most people grab a tube and float down the river while others choose to swim. This is a big deal for active kids like mine that would rather swim since many water parks don’t allow that. There are many spots that have water dumping or spraying at you, so you will get soaked unless you are good at maneuvering your way around.
If you have a medical need while at Wildwater Kingdom, their EMS service is reliable and top notch. Although we haven’t had any accidents there, we visit First Aid every time. My son is Type 1 Diabetic, so we store his insulin pump and supplies at First Aid to keep them out of the heat. They are more than willing to help with this sort of thing, medications, etc. You can even get a pass to bring in needed food and drink supplies if it is a medical need. They are the best.
We all know that summer is coming to an end, but let’s pretend it isn’t and continue to have fun in the sun at Wildwater Kingdom! They are open now through now through September 7th with a limited schedule of days starting mid-August.
