Cirque du Soleil Varekai in Youngstown Feb 14 – 16!

The opening performance of Cirque du Soleil: Varekai in Youngstown, Ohio took me into a world where it seemed as though anything was possible. I have never been to a Cirque du Soleil show before and found myself feeling like a child ready to discover a new world. The Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio could not have been a better venue for this occasion.  I loved that regardless of where you sat, you had a good seat that was close enough to see the details of the costumes and the expression on the performers faces.

I received tickets to facilitate this review.

Cirque du Soleil Varekai Review IcarusAerial

Varekai tells the story of Icarus, who falls from the sky and begins to explore the new world he has found himself in. He discovers creatures along the way that are like nothing you have ever seen before.

Visually, the colors and movement of the costumes draws you in. They are stunning! Varekai is a show that pulls you in not just visually, the music is beautiful, with performances by singers who are amazingly talented. As I watched the show, every change in scenery and character also had a change in music stylistically. The  great of  variety of music seemed to come from all parts of the world. This is part of what I felt made this show so special.

There were so many amazing acts in Varekai, it is hard to choose a favorite! There were moments that left me breathless, from the aerial acrobatics to the Russian swings. Tonight’s show was part of my Valentine’s Day date with my husband, and would be the perfect addition to a great night out with that special someone or for the whole family to enjoy.
