Cirque du Soleil’s Dralion Comes to Cleveland, Ohio April 4-8, 2012

Cirque du Soleil’s legendary theatrical mastery is coming to Cleveland, Ohio April 4-8, 2012. Cirque du Soleil’s Dralion promises a stunning acrobatic show with outstanding costumes, sets, acts, and unmatched technical style . Dralion has spent many years being performed under the big top and now entering arenas across the US and Canada.

With the signature name of Cirque du Soleil, you know you are in for a spectacular performance. Each show features 50 international acrobats, gymnasts, musicians and singers. This is the show to see in Cleveland this season!

There are several Cirque du Soleil Dralion acts that I especially look forward to seeing.

• Aerial Pas de Deux – This is an aerial dance where the couple flies on a long band of cloth over the stage. I’ve seen similar at the circus and thought it was fascinating!
• Dralions – This acrobatic act blends the Chinese dragon and lion dances. The costumes look amazing!
• Chairs – This act is in rotation, I hope it comes to Cleveland. In this act, the acrobat creates and balances on huge tower, displaying amazing strength, coordination, and muscular control.

In Cirque du Soleil’s Dralion, the 4 elements of air, water, fire, and earth take human form. Each element is represented by it’s own color and gorgeous costumes. The costumes look amazing with the primary influence from China, India, and Africa with vibrant colors.  16,000 feet of fabric was used in creating the elaborate costumes with fabricas from around the globe. Not only are the fabrics from around the world but unusual items are used to create spectacular costumes including: horse hair, raffia, metal, window screen, emu fathers, crystals, styrofoam, plastic, bubble wrap, fun fur, and hardware items, even bugs!

Each Cirque du Soleil’s Dralion Cleveland performance boast live music from 6 musicians and 2 singers. The assortment of music comes from Eastern and Western sounds with inspiration from Indian melodies, Andalusia, Africa, and Europe. It is sure to enhance the acrobatic displays and their heart stopping feats.
