First Night Akron is THE family-friendly event for New Years Eve. My family and I have gone for the past couple years and love it. There is so much to see and do that there is no way you can see everything! You’ll find families at First Night Akron as well as adults of all ages because there really is something for every age and interest. It would be very hard to attend and see the more than 90 performances available!
The events all take place Downtown Akron. Don’t worry, even with the cold weather, you can enjoy New Years Eve in Akron because all of the events are INSIDE where it is warm! 🙂 If you love music then you will enjoy bands and music from rock to jazz to folk.

The shuttle runs all night from venue to venue so you can stay warm. We were able to hop on the shuttle whenever we needed one as they are always traveling back and forth.
If you are looking for a New Years Eve event for Kids in Akron, First Night Akron is perfect. Of course there is plenty for them to see and do with the best performances around but there is also a fireworks countdown at 9pm. For those that can handle staying up until midnight, there is a big fireworks display and countdown at midnight as well.

The First Night Akron 2011 venues include the There are a few activities that take place outdoors, like the fireworks displays and other visual displays, but the majority of the entertainment takes place indoors. The fireworks displays take place on S. Main St. in front of Lock 3 at 9 p.m. and midnight.
