Ring in the New Year with Your Family at First Night Akron 2015

Ring in the New Year with your entire family at First Night Akron 2015.

First Night Akron 2015This family-friendly event offers indoor and outdoor entertainment for the entire family featuring music, dance, theater, visual arts, and plenty of interactive, hands-on fun!

My family has gone many time to First Night Akron and have never been disappointed. There is so much to see and do, you couldn’t possibly do it all in one night – but it allows everyone the chance to see and do what interests them. There is really something for everyone! Every year, they offer new entertainment and activities for the entire family. It is fresh and exciting every year!

First Night Akron is a safe and very family-friendly option for New Year’s Eve. It is a non-alcohol, family-fun option for New Year’s Eve with events indoors and outdoors. The majority of the entertainment is indoors, so don’t let the cold deter you!

I received admission to facilitate this post.

First Night Akron Schedule

First Night Akron starts at 6pm and runs through midnight on Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Check out the First Night Akron flip book for details on all the entertainment or download the app for your Android, iPhone/iPad and Kindle devices. My advice is to make a plan based on few things that are musts for your family and then go with the flow once you are there. Don’t try to schedule or plan to see and do too much because you can’t possibly do it all! Here is a little preview of all the venues and entertainment – this is less than 1/2 of the schedule!

sleeping beauty at akron first nightThere is a new production called Sleeping Beauty this year by The Illusion Factory that looks really good for families.  All of your favorite characters from Sleeping Beauty come to life before your eyes in a hilarious adventure to save the princess. You can even take pictures with the characters after the show. It is at the Summit Artspace: 2nd Floor 6-6:45 p.m. AND 7-7:45 p.m.

jasonalanAt MUST for my family is Jason Alan Magic at the Akron Civic Theatre from 6-7 p.m. He is AMAZING. We had him perform for my son’s birthday party a few years ago and saw him last year at Akron First Night – he leaves us mesmerized every single time! Adults and kids alike will be astonished by his performance!

You won’t want to miss the First Merit Fireworks – they are unbelievable every year! For the younger families, take advantage of the early countdown and fireworks at 9pm. The countdown starts with the Akron Children’s Hospital Kids Countdown Show with Popfusion at 8pm at the Main Street Mainstage.

For those that can make it until midnight, head down to Main Street at 11:15pm for the lighting of the Fire & Ice Tower and performances by stilt walker, Pik Up Stix.
