This has been a long, cold winter. Many of us are experiencing the Winter blahs and are in need of some serious fun. The best thing I could think of to shake the Winter blahs is to throw a super fun party that allows kids and adult to have fun showing their DisneySide!
I was selected to throw a DisneySide party and received a DisneySide Home Celebration Kit to throw the party and to facilitate this post.
How to Throw a Fun Disney Themed Party
Disney equals fun – no matter how you add it up. Chances are high that your child’s favorite movie is a Disney production and that their favorite character is a Disney character. What girl doesn’t want to be a Disney princess at some point in their life?
The first step to throwing a fun Disney theme party is to check out the DisneySide Celebrations website. I got a LOT of party-planning inspiration and even created my own DisneySide Pinterest Board to collect my favorites. They have everything you can possibly need or imagine there for a Disney theme party any time of year for birthdays and other celebrations. You can look up fun recipes and activities for parties or even search by theme.
We took what we received from Disney and added to it party supplies from Costume Express for the ultimate #DisneySide Home Celebration. We used the Disney toys our kids had to create Disney themed sections of our home. My kids even created back drops for their toys!
First things first – Food! Since most of the kids came home on the school bus with my kids, they needed a snack fast! I made a trail mix bar, an idea I received in my celebration kit. I had bowls of mini goldfish, chocolate chips, yogurt covered raisins, pretzels, vanilla cupcake flavor goldfish, Craisins dried cranberries (also provided), raisins, nuts, and mini candies. Each child made their own bag of trail mix for a quick, custom snack.
Since I have a boy and a girl, I went with an overall Disney theme. I made Mickey Mouse head and ear shaped sandwiches for the kids. I cut up ham, turkey, bread, and a variety of cheeses with a Disney Mickey Mouse Face Cookie Cutter. All the kids loved it! Plus, I made Mickey Mouse Face desserts using Oreo cookies. There was also hot mac-n-cheese, chips, cheese puffs, veggies, dip, hot dogs, and rice krispy treats. I took a friend’s advice and made it a simple menu filled with food kids love – and it could not have been easier to prepare!
The highlight of our DisneySide party was the Elite PhotoBooth Ohio. The entire night, there was a line to get photos taken in this ultra cool set up. Elite PhotoBooth Ohio will come to your home, school, wedding, fundraiser, corporate booth, etc to make an event that is never forgotten!
Check out all the photos from our DisneySide party! We had a blast, as if you couldn’t tell! I will be sharing more about Elite Photobooth of Ohio this week.
Elite Photobooth Ohio brought a fun assortment of props to be used in the photo booth. I also had some Mickey Mouse themed props including Mickey Mouse Ears and stuffed plush white gloves for Mickey’s hands and Minnie Ears for the girls to wear – my daughter never takes them off even after the party. We put all of our Disney props in the American Tourister luggage that I received with the celebration kit. American Tourister is the official luggage of Disney. In fact, I brought it with me to CA last month to the Disney #PirateFairyBloggers trip and loved it. The rotating wheels made it easy to navigate through the airport and the multiple compartments kept my belongings organized and stored.
The main activity of our DisneySide party was t-shirt making! I used iron-on transfers with my HP Envy inkjet printer to make tshirts for the boys with Marvel characters and Disney FROZEN characters for the girls. We used Hanes Tagless T Shirts, which are perfect for projects and non-itchy skirts kids enjoy wearing. We used Crayola Fabric Markers for bright, vivid colors that last.
Another fun game we did was Disney Bingo. It was included in our kit but you could easily make it yourself too. Instead of letters, each box had a famous Disney movie scene or something regarding Disney Parks in the boxes. This made it fun and easy for even the youngest kids to play!
To truly show our DisneySide, we encouraged everyone to wear their favorite Disney costumes. We had plenty of princesses! I was Jessie from Toy Story. I felt silly at first because the other adults only wore Disney t-shirts. However, I must admit that I had soooo much fun being Jessie, it allowed me to be a big kid – perfect for showing my DisneySide. I love having fun with my kids, playing with them, and not being so ‘grown up’ all the time. Getting a fun costume from CostumeExpress.com made that easy!
My daughter loves Tinker Bell! CostumeExpress.com has several styles to choose from. Elizabeth chose the Tink and the Fairy Rescue . My son was Jack Sparrow from Pirate of the Caribbean. What an outstanding costume and so fun for boys to act out – especially big 3rd graders!
At the end of the party, we were able to give all the kids fantastic gifts! We were provided great party favors like Mickey Mouse stickers, HP Photo Card Packs for photo printing at home, Mickey & Minnie poster, RunDisney poster, and more. We also gave the boys Marvel action figures and blow-up mallets. The girls were spoiled beyond belief with many of the same items as well as sparkly star wands and princess tiaras from CostumeExpress.com Disney On Ice Ariel dolls and diaries.
As you can tell, we all had a fun time showing our DisneySide! Everyone left more excited about Disney and were talking about planning their next trips to Disney World!
