I am so thrilled to share that one of our favorite local traditions is returning! Mark your calendars for Saturday and Sunday, April 25–26, 2026, because the Akron Express Rails & Runways event is going to be amazing fun! If your little ones are obsessed with things that “go,” this is the event of the season! My nephew is a dad now, he loved trains as a little boy and now his son does too. I can’t wait to see the joy on both their faces during this event!
Our family has always loved the interactive nature of this museum. When my kids were younger, they would spend hours exploring, and even now, the STEM focus of Rails & Runways is something I truly appreciate. It’s that perfect blend of “traditional” family bonding and modern, hands-on learning.
What to Expect: Planes, Trains, and So Much More!
The museum is pulling out all the stops for this two-day celebration from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. It’s not just a visit; it’s a full-blown adventure!
The Flight Simulator: This is a total showstopper! Kids can take the controls and see what it’s like to soar through the sky. It’s perfect for those curious minds!
Model Train Exhibits: The Burning River N Society and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) are bringing in stunning displays. There is something so magical about watching those tiny trains zip through miniature landscapes.
