Lung cancer is the #1 cause of cancer death among men and women in the US. Sadly, Ohio is particularly hard hit! Ohio ranks 39 out of 51 states for the number of new lung cancer diagnoses each year, with a rate of 71.1 per 100,000 people – higher than the national rank of 63 per 100,000. Unfortunately, most cases among people living in Ohio (47.7 percent) are not discovered until a late stage when survival is lower.
LungXperience gives you a unique opportunity to learn about and discuss the different stages of lung cancer and treatment. It is a great time to talk to your kids about the dangers of smoking too!
Many people don’t know much about lung cancer. Did you know that Stage 3 lung cancer is treated by physicians with curative intent? Also, a diagnosis of Stage 4 lung cancer does not necessarily mean that a patient has run out of treatment options.
