Spring into Fun: Family Adventures at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens

This spring, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is set to offer a vibrant array of events and activities that is fun for the entire family!

Stan Hywet Estate Open for Spring!

Opening its doors for the 2024 season on April 2, the estate is embracing the spirit of giving back with a special offer: guests purchasing a ticket for a self-guided Manor House tour and donating a non-perishable food item will be granted a second tour ticket free of charge, supporting the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank. This season brings not only the beauty of the gardens to life but also a schedule packed with unique events, from the traditional Easter Egg Hunt to the awe-inspiring viewing of a solar eclipse, complemented by a diverse range of tours and educational programs.

Easter Egg Hunt

Before the official season opening, the eagerly awaited Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by Acme Fresh Maket on March 30 sets the stage for spring’s festivities. Opening at 8:30 am, activities stretch from 9 am to 1 pm, with egg hunts beginning at 9:30 am for various age groups. This year introduces a new scavenger hunt for preteens and younger teens, alongside dramatic story readings by the Ohio Shakespeare Festival. Molly’s Courtyard Café will offer an array of breakfast and lunch items, with a pre-order option available for picnic lunches. This event encapsulates the joy of spring with opportunities to meet the Easter Bunny, enjoy rides, and participate in crafts, making it a cherished day out for families.

Solar Eclipse at Stan Hywet

The anticipation builds towards April 8, when Stan Hywet opens for a special afternoon from 1-5pm for the viewing of a solar eclipse. A $50 parking pass grants admission, including educational activities hosted in partnership with the Akron Children’s Museum and Challenge Island. Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to the Great Meadow for a comfortable viewing experience, equipped with NASA-certified eclipse glasses. This unique event combines the wonder of celestial phenomena with the educational enrichment and beauty of the estate.

Special Events at Stan Hywet

Throughout the season, visitors can explore the Manor House and its grounds through self-guided or guided tours, such as the Guided Manor House Tour, the Nooks & Crannies Tour, and starting in May, the Garden History Tour. These tours are enriched by the “Blueprint to Bricks” exhibit, delving into the Manor House’s architectural heritage.

Beyond these highlighted events, the 2024 season at Stan Hywet is packed with educational and public programs, including morning bird walks, horticulture programs, yoga sessions, vintage “base ball,” and a range of children’s activities. Signature events such as Founders’ Day Weekend, the Father’s Day Car Show, and Ohio Mart, among others, promise diverse experiences for all visitors. The estate’s commitment to education and cultural enrichment shines through its comprehensive programming, ensuring that every visit is both enjoyable and informative.
