A new season opens April 1, 2021 at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens. Many restoration projects have been in progress since 2015 and have now come to completion. Their new exhibit, Restoration: If This Hall Could Talk will celebration this $7 Million restoration of 16 spaces and rooms in the Manor House (supported by generous donors). Learn how areas on the estate were restored, including the perimeter stone wall ringing the estate; the Tea Houses, Lagoons, and Hidden Aspect; and leaded glass windows in all four historic buildings.
Also new this season is an Outdoor History Tour which is a guided experience through the gardens and grounds – something my family is excited to check out – we love the gardens! You’ll learn about the domestic staff who lived & operated at Stan Hywet, the builders of the hall, the technology used during that time period, about the service buildings and even the Seiberling farms. My family has visited Stan Hywet many times over the years and this all looks like brand new information! We can’t wait!
Also new is their season-long focus, Performing Arts Series. There will be special events created with local area artists and community arts organizations. Guests will be able to enjoy theater, dance, music, film, and visual arts. Partners include the Akron Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Ballet, Ohio Shakespeare Festival, Nightlight Cinemas, and the Stan Hywet Goodyear Concert Band, as well as photographer Ian Adams and plein air painter Jessica Henry Gray. You won’t want to miss these public programs!
