Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet presents Madeline at the Circus

The Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet is celebrating 35th season with the performance of Madeline at the Circus on March 12th & 13th, 2011 at the Akron Civic Theatre. This is part of CVYB Story Book Series, featuring “Madeline at the Circus” by Francis Patrelle and the world premiere of Tom Gold’s “Symphonic NANsense,” a celebration of the CVYB’s 35th anniversary and founding artistic director, Nan Klinger.  The ballet is sure to portray Madeline to be just as impetuous, irrepressible, mischievous, and precocious as the storybook character that has been adored by 3 generations. Do kids like ballet performances?

So, what is a good age to take your kids to a ballet? It depends on your child. Last year, I took my daughter who just turned 3 to see Fancy Nancy, performed by the Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet. My sister joined us with her almost 2-year old daughter.

My 3 year old loved it, she said “When I get big, I want to do that!” The ballet held her attention and inspired her to start taking ballet classes this past Summer. Elizabeth still has her Fancy Nancy program from the ballet. I know that at age 4, this year she will really enjoy the Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet performance of  Madeline at the Circus.

That being said, my almost 2-year old niece was just a bit too young for the ballet last year. We will see how she enjoys it this year!

    I would love to take my 4 year old to something like this! I also learned that there are dance classes I can sign her up for! Ages 3 and up, awesome!

    CVYB is the oldest youth ballet in Ohio. My daughter was Madeline for halloween and wants a Madeline birthday party in April. We have a large selection of the movies, several of the dolls, the game and puzzles.
    As a big fan, she would LOVE to see this!

    I think my 3 year old daughter would just love this. She just started ballet/tap this year and just loves anything that has to do with ballet. I would love to win this for her.
