Our writer, Patrica wrote a MALEFICENT movie review when it came out in theaters and I was intrigued by how she discussed how evil isn’t born but created. She talked about the character of Maleficent and how her innocent heart was betrayed. All the previews looked good too but somehow never made it to the theaters while it was out.
Now I wish I had because it is a new favorite Disney movie for my family. We’ve watched it several times this week!
Angelina Jolie delivered a stellar performance as Maleficent, I couldn’t imagine anyone else that could portray such the heartbroken, strong, brave, evil, revengeful, and deeply loyal character. Forget all you know about the story of Sleeping Beauty. The story of Maleficent is more tragic, more passionate, and more heartbreaking and full of love.
This is my ultimate favorite scene from the entire movie as Maleficent allows herself to care and love Aurora for the first time. Yes, love. True love even? Can a broken heart love again? Or does evil prevail? Maleficent’s heart is torn in two powerful directions the entire movie – from evil to broken.
Just wait until you see Maleficent before she was broken by King Henry. You’ll be in awe of the beauty and then so disappointed in how love was broken and torn because of greed.
