The Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet will perform Miss Spider’s Tea Party, choreographed by James Sewell at the Akron Civic Theatre on March 16-17, 2013.

The Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet continues their Story Book Series with Miss Spider’s Tea Party. Miss Spider and all of the beetles, fireflies, bees, rubber bugs, ants, butterflies and moths come to life through the CVYB performance. All those that flee from Miss Spider’s web return for a party in the end.
The audience will be delighted with the whimsical costumes that reflect the characters from the Miss Spider’s Tea Party book. Favorites will include an 8-limbed spider and the fireflies that really light up!
During the The Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet performance of Miss Spider’s Tea Party, the audience will also be treated to the World Premiere of Tom Gold‘s Joplin Jamboree. The Joplin Jamboree will combine jazz with ballet with all the energy and style of the jazz era.
The Miss Spider’s Tea Party ballet was choreographed by James Sewell who also composed the original score.
The Miss Spider’s Tea Party author, David Kirk will be available during Saturday performances for a special book signing appearance.
Do Kids Like Going to the Ballet?
My daughter has been enjoying the Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet performances since she was just 3 years old. She proclaimed that she wants to be dancing on the stage someday too!
My daughter enjoys getting dressed up to attend the ballet. Sometimes it is just her and I, other times, we go with another mom and daughter duo. It is always a fun activity to enjoy together. It is inspiration for our young girls to work hard and do their best too.
My daughter also likes to get her picture taken with all the dancers afterward as well as autographs. The dancers seem to really enjoy this time too! Going to the ballet is a special mother-daughter time for us.
The familiar Miss Spider’s Tea Party theme is sure to delight kids and adults alike. I know there will be plenty of both girls and boys enjoying the ballet this year.
