National Camping Week is June 24-29. Get in on the camping and RVing action this summer with these trends and tips from travel expert and mom of three, Kim Orlando, founder and editor of travelingmom.com.
Go Camping This Summer
According to Kim, 20 million people will go camping this year in 16,000 campgrounds nationwide. But as she explains in the video below, camping is not what it used to be. The majority of families are no longer popping up a tent in the middle of the woods, but rather renting cottages or buying RVs and bringing all the comforts of home into the great outdoors.

Camping, and the on-trend RVing and renting of Park Model cabins, are a great way for families to take a vacation without going very far or having to spend a ton of money. According to a survey from Campfire Canvass (a biannual survey from the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association) the top reasons families are choosing to camp this way is because it allows them to enjoy outdoor activities, enables them to take more mini-vacations throughout the season and lets them spend quality time together as a family.
