Akron Zoo Welcomes newborn (and rare!) Slow Loris

The baby male Slow Loris was born on August 21st, and weighed just 21 grams at our very own Akron Zoo. Tiny! Part of the Pygmy Loris Species Survival Plan, the Akron Zoo is hard at work creating a captive population of Slow Loris.  This animal is so cute, but looks fragile- would just love to bring him home!  (Now that would be a Christmas Gift!)

ANd yes, the Slow Loris is a very slow animal. Weight less than a pound at full size, this native to southeast asia makes slow, sloth like movements.
This newborn slow loris and its mother are not available for viewing at this time, but will be in the future.
