I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Lionsgate. I received promotional item and a prize pack as a thank you for my participation.

It looks like The Single Moms Club doesn’t make light of the struggles single moms have every day while highlighting the empowerment we all have in friendships. Friendships are crucial in any stage of life, especially in difficult times such as becoming a single mom. Although I am not a single mom, I have had had times in my life that I don’t know what I would have done without my friends.

I have a couple friends who have recently become single moms through divorce. It really stinks. My heart breaks as they long for the family life they had as a married couple and now make adjustments a single mom. It is a long process that is overwhelming if you try to figure it out all at once, it is a daily and sometime hourly process.  Sometimes we just have to take life one day at a time when it gets tough.

I enjoyed the quote in the movie from Lytia on parenting, good for all moms. “Just take it one snotty nose and one diaper at a time darlin‘.”

I have had friends whose lives seem out of control with no options, too much to take care of and absolutely no appreciation for what they do from their kids, ex-husbands, and even family. I have seen friends who are struggling trying to raise their children one way while their kids’ dad is doing it another way. I’ve seen the lack of communication between the parents that ends up harming the kids the most. I’ve been there for friends to be a listening ear, shoulder to cry on, and prayer partner. Thankfully, I have also seen wounded women get strong and confident. I’ve seen my friends turn their lives around and learn to laugh again.

May had a great piece of advice on being a single mom in The Single Moms Club movies. “You see it’s not so bad. You cry, but soon you laugh.” This applies to both single moms and their kids, because it isn’t easy for either.

Once my friends have gotten through the initial trauma of divorce, they began to get stronger and figure this new life out for themselves. What the character Peter said about life in the movie was moving for not just single moms but all of us. “You don’t have to be good at starting over, you just have to be good at letting go.” Letting go and forgiving is the hard part, right?

The Single Moms Club will be released by Lionsgate on March 14, 2014 in theaters everywhere. Plan a girls night out together as you follow the story of 5 single moms who form a support group that changes their lives.  We can’t do life alone, we need support groups like this, we need friends that care and can relate. Adding fun and humor doesn’t hurt either! This movie looks like it capture real life as well as adding fun and humor throughout that will make you laugh with your friends throughout the movie!
