Liberty Park Ball Fields, Playground, and Trails
One entrance is home to Liberty Park is home to four ball fields, two soccer fields, kids playground, .5 acre dog park, a beautiful open-air picnic shelter, Sugarbush trail, and flush restroom facilities. This is the place that you hope your kids’ ball team plays because there is something for everyone to do!
My kids enjoyed playing on the playground. There is a smaller playground next to the larger playground for younger children. There are plenty of tunnels, climbing structures, and slides for all the kids to explore and play on. The size is a little on the small side for older kids. My second grader had fun but kids older than that might feel “too big”.
There is an easy limestone .6 mile Sugarbush trail that runs around the playground and ball fields – perfect for a quick walk between games if you are there with your child for a ball game.
The Sugarbush trail breaks off into the 1.6 Buttonbush trail a moderate to easy 1 mile loop trail through the woods and swamp area. While we were there, it wasn’t too swampy but the trail extends between 2 large buttonbush swamps, partly covered with a boardwalk. BTW, Buttonbush is a flowering shrub that grows in the shallow water of swamps.
Liberty Park Hiking Trails and Cave
The second entrance to Liberty Park is where the new educational center is located. They have naturalist-led programs throughout the year as well as interpretive displays inside with a new 1/4 mile trail that leads to it.
It is also where you will find Glacier Cave and amazing must-see sandstone ledges! This is a beautiful 1.1 moderate trail that the whole family will enjoy. There are amazing views and scenes around every corner.

We will be visiting this trail again soon. It reminds me very much of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Kendall Ledges in Peninsula, Ohio.
The trail travels through wetlands on a long boardwalk and into a trail that leads to the ledges. There are a couple hills but nothing too difficult for this 1.1 mile trail.
Glacier Cave
Glacier Cave is amazing, it’s huge and filled with the natural beauty of massive rocks, ferns, mosses, and lichens.
Endangered bats and other creatures call Glacier Cave home, we saw a couple cute chipmunks scurrying about. Other creatures you may see at Liberty Park in Twinsburg include Indiana bats, marsh wrens, ospreys, bald eagles, beavers, long-tailed weasels, dragonflies, butterflies, red-backed salamanders, wood frogs and turtles.
Be sure to bring your camera, there is so much beauty to capture – it also makes a fantastic backdrop for family pictures.
