Rope Courses, ziplines, canopy tours and challenge courses all give Ohio FLAVOR! What else can we do with our great forests!
Some definitions:
- Ropes Courses and Challenge Courses – Bridges, Tests and Challenges while up in the air. High Ropes Courses are a lot higher than low ropes courses which are usually near ground level.
- Canopy Tours- Similar to a high ropes course, a canopy tour includes more distance covered, includes long runs of rope and plank bridges, and ziplines.
- Ziplines Use Gravity to travel in style down a long steel cord. Speeds vary but all are Exhilarating!
Kalahari Safari Outdoor Adventure
Kalahari is best known for its indoor water park with high attendance in Ohio’s Winters. Surrounded by the hotel complex is a top notch adventure camp. Zip lines, zoo, outdoor water park, a steel ropes course and more await in Sandusky Ohio. The Adventure Camp is open with day passes and separate ropes course admission fees.
Common Ground Center, Oberlin, OH
The new High Ropes Adventure Challenge Course is open to youth and adult groups, and the general public! Bookings are available for individual family groups. Checkout the Common Ground Center website. Common Ground also boasts a 2.5 hour canopy tour with 7 ziplines, 3 aerial bridges and plenty of other exciting aspects.
Hocking Hills Canopy Tours
HH Canopy Tours sports 5 different outdoor adventures including a canopy tour, an Extreme Canopy Tour, Super Zip, and Dragon Fly Zip tour for kids. Groups are not required and you can book individuals tours for your family directly on their site. Located in Hocking Hills, OH.
Adventure Creek, South East Ohio
Inside Ohio near Wheeling, WV, Adventure Creek has fourteen acres of ziplines and rope trails. There are different levels of courses. Challenges on the difficult courses include pulleys, obstacle courses all at about a height of 20 feet. Adventure Creek seems to be open to small groups and large groups alike. ZipZone Canopy Tours
Columbus, Ohio boasts the Zipzone Canopy Tours located at Camp Mary Orton. With a few different tour choices, experience sky bridges, ziplines, a unique QUICKjump free fall experience and Rappelling. Night and Holiday Events are also offered and bookable on their website – zipzonetours.com.
Tree Frong Canopy Tours, Loundonville/Mohican
Boasting 4000 feet of Zip lines, sky bridges, and platform rappels, Tree Frog Canopy Tours is a Zipline on Steroids. Located about an hour between Columbus and Cleveland in the Mohican Area. Schedule your individual Visit online.
Markin Farms Zipline Adventures, West Libery Ohio
With 13 zip lines and 5 high ropes challenges, Markin Farms Canopy Tours in West Liberty Ohio is your chance to view 90 beautiful acres. Sunset and Twilight Zips are available. The website suggests a canopy tour too, but mentions little about it.
The Adventure Complex at Camp Akita, Hocking Hills
Located in Logan, Ohio, Camp Akita is run by the First Congregational Church. Akita claims to be Ohio’s premier ropes and challenge course. In Hocking Hills, this location boasts an alpine tower, Giant Swing, and a Reach Course. Camp Akita primarily hosts summer camps, group programs, and hosts groups doing team building adventures around Outdoors Themes.
Mohican Adventures
Mohican Adventures offers the Aerial Adventure Park. With passes sold by the hour, there are 5 different courses of varying difficulty. Minimum Ages for the various levels are 5, 7 and 11.
Lazy River Campground, Granville, OH
Granville, Ohio boasts a full fledged, contained Ropes Course in a Outdoor Steel Structure. Located in the Lazy River Campground, the course is available to all campers who stay on the property.
Go Ape Treetop Adventure Course, Strongsville, OH
The Cleveland Metropark located in Strongsville’s MillStream Run Reservation opened its various first Canopy Tour/ZIp Line, Obstacle Course, Tarzan Swing Spider’s Web and Jungle Crossing over a series of Wetlands. Wow!

Creation Museum – Raptor’s Nest Aerial Adventure Park, Petersburg, KY
The Creation Museum in Nearby Petersburg, KY has zip lines, canopy tours, children’s ropes course, and adult rope course. This is the Raptor’s Nest Aerial Adventure Park.
Group Bookable Ropes Courses, Summer Camps
Many ropes courses are maintained by non profit groups, summer camps, and even churches. These locations require minimum numbers of people and often include team building exercises. The ropes courses usually include team based play to complete challenges.
Summit Vision, Westerville, OH
Individuals and Families (or groups) can book a Play-Day at Summit Vision in Westerville, Ohio. Activities include a giant swing, rope course and zip lines. Ages 16 and older only, play days run around $45 per person and can be booked on line. Summit Vision Play Days website.
Lorain County Community College
Lorain County Community College has a high ropes setup that is used for academic courses, however it can be utilized by adult groups for full and half day events for leadership and team building programs.
Camp Nuhop, Ashland, OH
Located near Ashland Ohio along Interstate 72, Camp Nuhop is a summer camp for children with learning disabilities, ADD, AASD and other behavioral exceptions. Their structured programs match children that will work well together, and make all challenges and opportunities as optional as possible for those that need a break. Camp Nuhop has a full high ropes course, giant swing, pamper pole, climbing wall and low ropes course.
Camp Glen near Tiffin, OH
Camp Glen is run by Camp Fire (aka Camp Fire Girls) and is a group camp available for rentals for boys, girl, adults and corporate groups. Along with other amenities, the new High Ropes Course looks to be a real treat!
Camp Cheerful in Strongsville, OH
My husband visited Camp Cheerful as a child for Church Picnics. He said he got in trouble once for ringing a bell on the property well before dinner time, causing much confusion. That’s why we don’t have bells in the house.
Camp Cheerful is a camp for children and adults with disabilities and challenges, and the High Ropes Challenge Course was built to meet those needs. Although it is said to be extremely challenging, it is fully accessible to anyone with harnesses, low challenges, nets and the link. It is outfitted with more than 50 activities for even the hardiest of risk takers.

Chagrin Falls near Cleveland is home to Hiram House Camp. The camp has a Climbing Tower, High Ropes, and a Low Ropes Obstacle Course and is open to youth and adult groups seeking new team building opportunities.
Camp Asbury, Hiram, OH
In Hiram between Cleveland and Youngstown, Camp Asbury offers Kids Camps and Group Tour Opportunities. They boast both a high and low ropes course. Asbury is a United Methodist Church property.
YMCA Camp Wilson
This YMCA Camp Wilson in Bellefontaine, OH boasts a High Ropes Course for Adult and Teen Groups looking to benefit from Team Building Events.
