Does someone in your family love to hunt? My family has just recently discovered the fun of archery and target shooting. Chances are, if there’s a hunter in your family, you have a prized trophy catch that you’d like to display. I was sent a product to review, and I’d really recommend it for hanging and displaying all your prized trophy skulls.
The Skull Hooker is for mounting any skull on to the surface of your choice. It’s something that a hunter can do her or himself, and have a professional looking mount. The “Little Hooker” is meant to mount deer, antelope, black bear, wild boar, impala, and cougar. I personally, mounted a steer skull to it, and it took all of 2 minutes from assembly to mounting. Seriously, it’s super easy, and everything you need is in the box. Just grab a Phillips head screwdriver to attach the unit to the wall with the two included matching screws, and you’re all set.
There’s also a “Big Hooker” model is suitable for mounting elk, moose, caribou, brown bear, bison, and other large game.

The unit is very sleek, and fully adjustable, swiveling in any direction. There’s no drilling needed to the skull, as it is held securely in place with an adjustable prong that fits into the brain cavity. That’s another beauty part of this model, is that you can change out skulls easily, and not have to drill into and possibly damage them. It comes in brown or black, and is very economical. It’s light, but heavy duty with a cast iron look and feel. If the skull is heavy, I’d be sure to find a stud in the wall, and it’s a good idea to use plastic anchors when you screw the unit to the wall.
I also had my neighbor, an avid bow hunter, check out the same model. Here’s what he said : “Really easy to use and looks classy. A lot less bulky and obstructive than wooden plaques. Really gives a 3D look to the skull.” These deer skulls are ones that he shot with a bow and mounted. He even makes his own arrows!
Archery is a great family activity, and teaches many life skills. It’s never a bad thing to learn how to feed yourself without the grocery store, whether it’s through farming, hunting, or knowing what you can eat in the woods. It’s been great to get my family off of their electronic devices and outside, target practicing. I’ll be talking more about archery, hunting, and other outdoor family activities in the weeks to come. If you are still searching for the perfect gift for your dad that loves the hunt, check out the Little Hooker! If you are looking into a new family hobby, consider archery!
