STEMPowerkids Monthly STEM Boxes for Kids
The goal of STEMPowerkids is to use STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math ) to help children learn more while having fun. STEMPowerkids is founded by a mother and father team who with their skills (one is biomedical engineer and the other is a former teacher and Fulbright scholar) wanted to emphasizes learning by experience with hands on actives. They now offer a monthly subscription box with 4 or more fun activities to do with you child they are recommended for ages 3-7.
Our box was chemistry themed, which is perfect for Kelton (7 years old) and LOVES science. Each box will be different but here is our “Chemists have solutions!” box.
This box contained nearly everything we needed to perform 5 experiments. But I didn’t have to run to the store for anything, not even the test tubes and safety goggles (which can be reused with future boxes). The only supplies we needed from home were a toilet paper tube and tape. Other then that everything was already there. In the box is also a booklet that tells you how to do the experiments it also gives you tips on how to explain what is happening in each experiment and some probing questions to ask your child.
Kelton’s favorite experiment was the film canister rockets. It scared me when it finally went pop! But we all wanted to keep doing it. I loved that he could preform the experiment with only a little guidance, but that he loved creating a hypothesis and seeing if it was accurate.
