Fall is the best time to visit the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the place everyone wants to be is Szalay’s Sweet Corn Farm for a family fun! They have a gigantic corn maze, a spinning barn, a market with fresh pressed cider, pumpkins of all sizes, gourds, Indian corn, local honey, fresh fruits and veggies, and even delicious food stands on the weekends.
Our favorite corn maze in the Akron, Ohio area is the Szalay’s Fall Corn Maze!
New this year is the Spinning Barn that is included with your corn maze admission!
This 3+ acre corn maze is the best around with new themes each year. The corn maze if family friendly – even with a stroller – and challenging. There are 7 wooden pumpkins destinations in the maze that you are challenged to find – we only found 4!
Along the way are scary props that aren’t too scary but a lot of fun!
There are a variety of themed corners and areas throughout the maze in addition to the 7 wooden pumpkins we were searching for. We had kids ages 5, 7, 9, and 11 with us – plus a baby. They all had a fantastic time walking through the mazes and nobody was too scared of the props but they did add a lot of fun.
Well, maybe the baby was a little scared. Just kidding, he didn’t see that monster in the picture below, he just isn’t a fan of the bright sunshine. 🙂 Haven’t we had a beautiful fall this year? The thing I like about corn mazes is that they are fun whether it is sunny and warm or if you have to bundle up!

I became fast friends with a kind little old woman in the maze, although she didn’t talk much. 😉
Our favorite addition to the Szalay’s Corn Maze this year is the Spinning Barn!!!! Inside this barn is a spinning frame that you walk though. It’s dark with spinning lights all around, making you feel like you can’t stand up straight!
Our kids walked through it about a dozen times! Admission is included with the corn maze – I LOVE that!
It’s crazy fun for kids and adults. Be sure you go through both the corn maze and the spinning barn with your kids – you won’t regret having fun with your kids! I love that Szalay’s is all about family fun!
There are also fun games you and your kids can play – through a bow at the crows and slinging rubber chickens into the pot!
Once you are done with the maze, spinning barn, and games, head over to Szalay’s Market where you’ll find everything you need to decorate your home for the Fall. Choose from pumpkins of every shape and size, Gourds, Indian Corn, Corn Stalks, Straw Bales, and more. Head inside the market for fresh vegetables (including the best sweet corn in the area!), fruits, local honey, fresh pressed cider, maple syrup, baked goods, fresh chestnuts, and more.
We always get a snack and relax at the swinging booths. Szalay’s is a fun and relaxing place to hang out all season long to shop for fresh food and enjoy a snack together. It is located right in the heart of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park with the path to the Beaver Marsh next door.
