The Jungle Book Movie in 3D Review #JungleBook

The Jungle Book 2016 Review

The wait it almost over! Disney’s THE JUNGLE BOOK is in theaters tomorrow, April 15th. My family and I give it 2 thumbs up – We are still singing the songs! We loved the movie and can’t wait to see it again with friends.

Disney did an amazing job bringing the much beloved animated 1967 classic to life! You will feel like you are in the Indian jungle with Mowgli (Neel Sethi) with the amazing landscape, foliage, and fiercely real animals. The CGI animals and environments are so realistic, you’ll wonder how Mowgli shot the film with Shere Khan (Idris Elba) or the stampeding herds without getting injured.

Make plans now to take your family to watch it in 3-D! It is one of only a few movies that actually benefits from being in 3-D! The layers and layers of foliage in the jungle along with the buzzing of the tiniest of insects and the dramatic action of the film are all captured in the greatest of detail when watched in 3-D.

The Jungle Book 2016 Review

This live-action movie with photo-realistic CGI takes you into Mowgli’s world of being a man-cub, living in an animal’s world.  This classic story was meant for children, however some of the scenes may be too intense for young children. My kids are ages 9 and 11, they both agreed that kids under 6 might be too scared. There are a few scenes with Shere Khan that made even me jump back. Like in the original movie, Shere Khan is on a vengeful hunt for Mowgli. The final scene is intense as he chases Mowgli through the jungle and up through a tree, clawing at him the entire time.

There are plenty of exciting and fun scenes too. Our favorite is with Baloo (Bill Murray) and Mowgli floating down the river on Baloo’s (Bill Murray) belly singing Bare Necessities – my kids are still singing this song!

Baloo provides the comic relief at just the right time in the movie during which Mowgli is treking through the jungle to return to the man village to get away from Shere Khan. He runs into more danger with  Kaa (Scarlett Johansson) when Baloo rescues him. Kaa is totally creepy and my son’s favorite part.

Our favorite quote:

Bagheera: Bears don’t hibernate in the jungle.
Baloo: Not full hibernation, but I nap…a lot.

THE JUNGLE BOOK is full of astounding visuals in an enchanting and lush world. The movie is non-stop adventure that will keep the entire family entertained from start to finish -be sure to get your popcorn and restroom breaks done before the movie because you won’t want to miss a minute!
