Summit County MetroParks sends out a calendar every quarter outlining all of their activities for the various parks around Summit County. I’ve handpicked what looks like the best events for the Nature Realm in West Akron and have placed them here for your easy cherry picking! (OK, there are no cherries in December, I know this) Most of these activities include an outdoor component- so dress warm!

OK, I’ll be at church, but you can enjoy a wildlife hike and make a fun family craft with Naturalist Sarah Putnam. Each participant will create a nature postcard to send out for Christmas.
Owl Prowl
Wednesday 12/8 @ 7pm
Join Naturalist Mike Green indoors to discover what kind of owls live in our area. Then search for owls outdoors while hiking about a mile.

American Indians for Kids

Kids 6 to 12 can discover a few American Indian tribes with Naturalist Danusia Casteel. This program includes a craft and a short hike.
Yule Log Family Craft

Join Naturalist Dave Gates to discover the tradition of the Yule Log, then make your own outside on the covered deck. (What’s a Yule Log? Wikipedia says: A Yule log is a large wooden log which is burned in the hearth as a part of traditional Yule or Christmas celebrations in several European cultures. Nature Drawing for Kids: Wildlife Cartooning
