Warrior Dash at Clay’s Park

A bunch of moms from the Akron area are entering the Warrior Dash race this Summer at Clay’s Park. This is where I first learned about this challenging obstacle course race. At first, I was intimidated and said “No way”, then I became intrigued. Warrior Dash i the world’s largest running series and it is coming to Ohio this Summer!  Check out the below Warrior Dash Video and see what I mean.

Once I started talking about it to my husband and kids, I had to commit. My 7 year old son thinks it is so cool that his mom is going to run a race and get muddy! If I change my mind now, how un-cool would I look?

The Warrior Dash is all about mental toughness, everyone can enjoy this challenge regardless of physical ability.

It looks like an incredibly exciting and fun adventure to do with a friend or as a group! It is a challenge that I am up to!

The Warrior Dash will be held at Clay’s Park. Following are the obstacles that warriors will conquer: Hay Fever, Barricade Breakdown, Arachnophobia, Slithering Swamp, Rubber Ricochet, Great Warrior Wall, Teetering Traverse, Cargo Climb, Blackout, Muddy Mayhem, and Warrior Roast.

Training for the Warrior Dash

On the Warrior Dash website, they break participants into 3  Warrior Types: Virgin Warrior, Casual Warrior, and Ultimate Warrior. For each type, Warrior Dash gives suggestions on how to train for the Warrior Dash.

I’ll be talking about my routine as a Virgin Warrior in future posts. I can run the 3.12 miles with no problem. For me, the challenge is going to be strength, especially upper body strength for the obstacles.
