Fort Rapids Indoor Waterpark Resort in Columbus, Ohio Review

Fort Rapids Indoor Waterpark Resort is the largest waterpark in Central Ohio.  The waterpark and resort are decorated with Wild West theme.  When we arrived at Fort Rapids, we were welcomed with a big parking lot with plenty of parking spots to choose from.

Fort Rapids Entrance

After a decent drive from home to the water park,  “fighting” for an empty parking spot is less to be desired. We parked not too far from the entrance.  As soon as we walked in, we were welcome by a nice cool breeze of air conditioning room and a welcoming Wild West themed foyer.

Welcome to Fort Rapids!

I just love the high ceiling room with tall fireplaces in the middle.  It makes me feel like home.

Easy Check in at Fort Rapids Indoor Waterpark Resort in Columbus, Ohio

There were a few guests in front of us either to check-in or to check-out.  The line went pretty quick.  The staff were very professional and courteous.  In just a few minutes,  we had our room key and most importantly, our water park passes!

We kept this plan as a secret to my 8-year-old.  He knew that we were going away because he saw us pack our bags and stuffed them into our SUV, but didn’t realize that we were heading to a water park.  He was very excited about the whole experience.   This isn’t his first time at an indoor water park, but Fort Rapids is a whole new experience for him.   He had a BIG smile on his face and was looking forward to the excitement.

Fort Rapids Indoor Waterpark Resort Rooms

Villa Room is such a pleasant place to stay.

Check-in is at 4 PM usually, but  we were able to check in early as they had a room available for us at that time.  We had a villa family suite.  Oak Creek Canyon.   It is an over-sized studio room with two Queen  size beds and a Queen size sleeper sofa.  We had seen the floor plan on the internet, but the room size was beyond our expectation.

We were only planning to drop off our bags, changed and then heading to the water park as soon as possible.  However, the minute we entered the room, it felt like we were in our little world.  The room is very spacious and everyone had plenty of room to move around.

Nice Clean Queen Sized Beds

It is a 6-person occupancy which has a nice seating area.

Also, a clean bathroom (I  their giraffe print wallpaper), two vanity sinks with big mirrors, two TVs, free WiFi, plenty of  rooms to store our belonging, a microwave (LIKE it), a nice size refrigerator (LOVE it), and last but not least, our very own clothes dryer (DOUBLE LOVE it!).

This is enough to make my day. My own clothes dryer in the room.

None of the other water parks that we had been had provided our very own clothes dryer.  How convenient!   I love the idea of not having to utilize my own strength to dry out the wet bathing suits and swimming trunks!

Finally! The kids are ready to swim at Fort Rapids Water Park.

Fort Rapids Indoor Waterpark is SO much fun!

The center piece is the Fort itself which is several section of towers interconnected rope bridges, tubes and stairs.  84 degrees F indoor throughout the whole year, even in winter days.

Every twist and turn on the Fort has something fun for the explorer. There are water cannons to shoot from, slides from the top and lower sections of the towers, dumping buckets of water and of course being in the middle of a 1000 gallon bucket pour! It’s Cowboys and Indians with water everywhere. Fun for both kids and adults.

Babies and toddlers have their own activity pool.  My 18 months old is  so serious when it comes to playing in the water.

There is a also nice size Activity Pool area where guests could either engaged in a friendly game of water basketball or just simply hang out and talk.

School Agers who are 58 inches and taller can go on any slides in the waterpark.

Fun Water Slides

There are plenty of slides in the Waterpark from the smallest to the most extreme.

The extreme slides are called the Shoot Out Racers, Black Out Pass, Ambush Alley and Raging Bull.

The Shoot Out Racers is actually a set of 4 slides which 4 guests can compete against each other to see who reaches the end of the slide the fastest. It uses a full body mat instead of a rubber tube. After twisting and turning in the initial stage, the guests will exit the tubes and began a rapid descent into a long stretch of slide.

The Ambush Alley and Raging Bull is a set of green and blue tubes which will bring the guest through a series of serious twists and turns. After making sure that you have just enough of it, you find yourself splashing into a small pool area which you can choose to exit or merge into the Lazy River.

One of the extreme slides is the Black Out Pass or affectionately referred to by guests as the ‘Toilet Bowl‘. You slide down this really dark tube which you cannot see anything even in the middle of the day and exit into this huge bowl and began swirling round and round towards the middle. Just like being flushed in a toilet bowl. You then exit the bowl and land straight into a small section of water which emerged into the Lazy River.
