Celebrate with a Cake from Cold Stone Creamery in Hudson

Special celebrations like Mother’s Day call for extra-special goodies! Show mom how extraordinary she is to you with a knock-out cake from Cold Stone Creamery in Hudson! The bonus?  This gift to mom is best when shared with those that love her!  🙂

I must admit that while we have had Cold Stone ice cream on many occasions, I had never tried one of their ice cream cakes.  With lots of upcoming spring and  summer birthdays and celebrations, I was looking forward to giving their cakes a taste test.  We were asked to review the Strawberry Passion Signature cake from the Cold Stone Creamery in Hudson, OH.

The beautiful and yummy Cold Stone Strawberry Passion Cake

Our Review of the Strawberry Passion Cake

When I picked up the cake at the store, I couldn’t believe how big, and how beautiful the cake was – it really made a nice presentation.  We sampled the small round cake, which Cold Stone says feeds up to 8 people.  I would say it easily feeds 8 or more–the pieces are very large, and each piece has 2 layers each of ice cream and red velvet cake.

And now that I’m talking red velvet cake, need I say more than “Yum?!”  I’m a baker, but red velvet cake is not on my list of cakes I make on a regular basis–too much work!  But I do love that flavor, as does my family.  The inclusion of out-of-the-ordinary ingredients like  red velvet cake made the Cold Stone cake all the more appealing.

The cake was moist and flavorful, and the strawberry ice cream was just right – creamy and rich with bits of strawberries and graham cracker crumbs peeking through.  I love that Cold Stone’s cakes are a tasty blend of  traditional cake and their wonderful ice cream, unlike some other versions of “ice cream only” cakes on the market.

These stacked high layer cakes really do make a statement.  They are both visually pleasing, and palate pleasing!

Look at those scrumptious layers!

Here’s something else we really enjoyed about the Cold Stone cake – it wasn’t overly sweet like other ice cream cakes can be.  The high quality ice cream and cake were allowed to shine rather than being covered up with super sweet syrups or frostings.  Even the frosting itself was lightly flavored, and oh so yummy!  The perfect finish to a most enjoyable dessert!

Cold Stone Creamery’s Selection of Cakes

Everyone has their favorite flavor or two (or three!) of ice cream, right?  Knowing that, Cold Stone has developed a nice variety of knock-your-socks-off flavors for their famous Signature  ice cream cakes. Beware – you may have a hard time choosing!

  • Midnight Delight – Layers of moist devil’s food cake and rich chocolate ice cream smothered in a creamy fudge ganache
  • Cookie Dough Delirium – Yellow cake layered with sweet cream ice cream packed with cookie dough chunks and chocolate shavings, enveloped in fluffy white frosting
  • Cookies and Creamery –  Dark devil’s food cake layered with sweet cream ice cream chock full of Oreo cookie pieces wrapped in fluffy white frosting
  • Strawberry Passion – Yummy red velvet cake paired with strawberry ice cream with graham cracker crumbs and strawberry puree all wrapped in fluffy, light strawberry frosting
  • Cake Batter Confetti – Moist red velvet cake layered with cake batter ice cream stuffed with rainbow sprinkles, finished with fluffy white frosting

Don’t See Your Favorite Flavor Combo?  Order a Custom Cake from Cold Stone!

I had no idea this was even an option at Cold Stone, but it is.  Let’s say you like the Cookie Dough Delirium cake, but you’d rather have chocolate ice cream than their sweet cream ice cream in the cake.  No problem!  Just give Cold Stone in Hudson a call at 330.655.2990, and with a few days notice, they will have your custom cake waiting for you.

Birthday cakes are also available from Cold Stone.  These yummy cakes feature a single layer each of devil’s food cake and ice cream, and lots of fun sprinkles.  And, did you know they can customize these cakes with your child’s favorite character?   If you’re daughter loves Dora, or your son is obsessed with SpongeBob, chances are they can feature your child’s favorite character atop one of their fabulous cakes.  The birthday cakes come in a variety of shapes and sizes, with their largest cake feeding 50!  Now that’s a party I want to get invited to!  🙂

Cakes and Goodies to Go!

Hudson’s Cold Stone Creamery always has their freezer stocked with a nice selection of freshly prepared goodies.   Stop by and pick up Signature Cakes, birthday cakes, and even single serve items like a four pack of cookie ice cream sandwiches, or their own mouth watering version of cupcakes – a chunk of moist cake, a little chocolate or caramel sauce, a mound of ice cream, all covered in frosting and sitting pretty in a Bavarian chocolate cup.  When you are ready for a special treat, they have them ready to go!

My entire family would love to enjoy the coldstome creamery cake ! In June we celebrate birthdays for 3 different generations all within a one week span leading up to Fathers day and then we celebrate the dads. My mother, older sister and myself all celebrate June birthdays. The 13th, 16th and 19th respectively and then my husband and father are celebrated on father’s day. each year I like to purchase a cake from a different bakery and a different flavor or type to keep things fun. I have had casada cakes, homemade cakes but have never thought of Coldstone even though they are down the street from us. Would love love to win the cake for our big party celebrating all 5 wonderful family members!
