Hudson’s Restaurant in Hudson Review

It’s not very often that you can find a restaurant that appeals to all sorts of patrons:  Hudson’s Restaurant is one of those rare beauties!  It’s comfortable enough for a family breakfast, lunch or dinner out, yet classy enough for a GNO (Girls/Guys Night Out) or date night.   Nightly entree and drink specials make a nice evening out possible without breaking the bank.  That’s why a Hudson’s Restaurant Gift Card makes the perfect Easter gift (or any other occasion!). And I haven’t even gotten to the delicious food yet!  🙂

What’s on the Menu?

Here’s a sampling of their most popular items: Appetizers– Loaded House Chips, Calamari, Tuscan Flatbread Sandwiches & Salads – French Chicken Sandwich, the “Original” Teddy Burger, and Hudson’s Signature Chopped Salad with 12 diced veggies Entrees – Grilled Meatloaf, Pork Chop, and Maple Makers Mark Salmon Dessert– Limoncello Cheesecake and Triple Berry Crisp Seasonal Specials are also featured on the menu

Our Hudson’s Restaurant Experience

One Tuesday night, my family and I went to check Hudson’s out.  It just so happens that Tuesday Night at Hudson’s is two entrees for $22.00 night. Most of the regular menu entrees were included.   When you consider what is on their menu, that is a REAL bargain!  I ordered the Petite Filet, and chose steamed veggies and a Caesar salad for my sides.  My husband opted for the full rack of BBQ ribs, and had coleslaw and fresh cut fries as his sides.  And yes, each of our meals was only $11.00!  Our girls, Alyssa and Lila, decided on their usual kids’ burger and fries. I can honestly tell you that everything was delicious!  My filet was perfectly cooked, so tender I really only needed a butter knife to cut it, and so flavorful that no extra sauces or seasonings were needed.

My husband flipped over Hudson’s ribs – and I have to tell you, he’s quite the rib snob.  His ultimate test of a good rack of ribs is flavor, of course, but just as importantly, how easily the meat separates from the bone.  He kept saying, “Beth, look at this!  I’m just using my fork and it’s falling right off the bone!” He was one happy camper.  The sauce on the ribs was just right too – not so little that you couldn’t taste it, and not so much that what you tasted was more sauce than ribs.  Our sides were fantastic too.

The girls rated the burgers and fries two thumbs up.  How can you go wrong with fresh cut fries.  I snuck a few (ok, more than a few), and they were delish! We figured to do the review justice, we HAD to try a few desserts as well.  🙂  The Triple Berry Crunch and Brownie Sundae with a burbon ganache did not disappoint.  We were in food heaven.

Good service is always important too. Wait staff was helpful, friendly, and available, but also gave us our space. It was also neat to see Chef and Co-owner, J.J. Altomare making the rounds at patrons tables, asking how their meals were, and thanking them for dining at Hudson’s.

There’s definitely a family feel to the overall atmosphere of Hudson’s. This isn’t surprising when you find out that Hudson’s Restaurant, which opened in 2006, is a dream come true for two generations of Altomares–Dad John, and his two sons, J.J. and Kevin. A short four years later, the Altomares have opened a second Hudson’s Retaurant in Montrose, at 3900 Medina Road, to better serve the Akron community. Good news for all you AkronOhioMoms.com readers!  Hudson’s also operates  full-service catering as well, with a HUGE menu covering breakfast, lunch AND dinner!  Personalized menus are even a possibility with this talented crew.

I have seen them at their new Fairlawn location, but wasn’t familiar. I see from their menu that they offer a variety of home cooking, burgers, pasta, steak and more.

That’s quite a dilemma you pose, Paul! Take a special someone with you, and each order a different entree and share–that’s my suggestion! I just had Hudson’s Penne pasta with chicken, artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes. Out of this world! 🙂
