You can’t get fresher seafood than at Lighthouse Oyster Bar & Grill. Their fish comes straight from local fishermen and the Great Pacific Ocean. Also enjoy pasta, burgers, tacos, soups, salads, and more.
We’ve only had oysters a handful of time. Since this is an oyster bar, we felt obligated to try it and I’m so glad we did. Oysters that I’ve had in the past have been smelly and very oily so I didn’t like them at all. The oysters at Lighthouse were very fresh and delicious – not something I ever thought I’d say!
My son loves trying new food so he eagerly tried oysters for the first time and liked them! You can order oysters individually or by half dozen.
I always encourage my kids to try new foods, especially while on vacation. So proud that he did! One menu item we didn’t have to convince our kids to try was the Ahi Stack! Have you ever seen anything as gorgeous as this?!
We love sushi, so this appetizer was a favorite with fresh Ahi, tuna, mango, and avocado. My son especially loved it!
I’ve never had coconut shrimp before, since it is a Lighthouse favorite, we thought we’d try it. No wonder it is a favorite! The shrimp was enormous and juicy while the sweet, crunchy coconut breading was exquisite. I’m not sure if this is an appetizer or dessert, it was so good.
We are fans of lobster bisque as well as clam chowder. My son ordered a bowl of lobster bisque for dinner and loved it! I ordered the New England white clam chowder and ended up sharing with everyone because it was so good. Great flavors and creamy texture for both. Both are offered by the cup, bowl, or in a sourdough bowl.
The lobster tacos were a very good choice as well. Served with sauteed bell peppers and zucchini, this hearty meal is exactly what you need while on vacation! It exemplifies fresh seafood on the coast experience.
In addition to Lobster Tacos, they also serve Calamari Taco, San Felipe Fish Taco, Lighthouse Shrimp Tacos.
My husband enjoyed the breaded shrimp tacos below!.
There is also a nice kids’ menu with traditional items like burgers and fries as well as coastal favorites like fried shrimp, fish & chips, and pasta bowls.
We sat on the outside deck in order to take in the view of the magnificent sunset over the harbor. I was glad they had outside heaters as the air had a chill in it once the sun set. You can also dine indoors.
After dinner, be sure to stop by the souvenir shops and stands on the below deck. You can pick up inexpensive California souvenirs and gifts.
I highly recommend lunch or dinner at Lighthouse Oyster Bar & Grill while visiting Oceanside, CA. The views are spectacular, the food is fresh and amazing (they own the fish market at the harbor so fish is caught daily), the atmosphere is fun and casual, and the service is fast and friendly. This is a very family-friendly restaurant.

This is part of our Kidifornia Family Adventure series. While in Oceanside, we stayed at Holiday Inn Oceanside which is within walking distance of Lighthouse, we also rented bikes to ride along the Oceanside Strand and enjoyed the wide, sandy beaches!
