Mornings in my home are still quite relaxed. My kids don’t go to school until 10 am or later and my husband works from home. We typically all eat breakfast together at the table.
We often have cereal for breakfast, our favorite is the Cascadian Farms brand. Yummy! Once or twice a week, I get in the cooking mood and cook eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, or pancakes. We pair breakfast with 100% juice.

Benefits of Breakfast
I’m sure you have heard about the benefits of eating a nutritious breakfast. Breakfast helps maintain weight, contributes to weight loss, and provides more energy throughout the day. Although mornings can get rough, breakfast is not the meal to skip. Plus, it is a good bonding time with your family, to get the day started off on the right foot.
Benefits of 100% Orange Juice
I have always reach for 100% Florida Orange Juice for breakfast. My daughter has never been a fan of orange juice, I have no idea why. I just learned that 100% Florida Orange Juice is more nutrient dense than other 100 percent fruit juices like apple, grape, pineapple and prune. More bang for your buck with orange juice, I guess. You can find out lots of other insightful information on the FloridaJuice.com website or Florida Orange Juice facebook page. With this knowledge, I was determined to try to get my daughter to start drinking OJ.
We are planning a summer vacation trip to Florida this Summer. It is all my kids have been talking about, always asking when it is time to go to the beach. I thought I’d use this to my advantage and introduce the orange juice as Florida Orange Juice to my daughter who never, ever drinks orange juice. Her preference is apple juice.
I am always trying to introduce and re-introduce foods and drinks to my kids to give them a diet with variety. Sometime this takes creativity. Today, it just took the mention of “Florida”. Can you believe my daughter drank her entire glass of 100% Florida Orange Juice?

Have you noticed that I’m saying “100% Juice“? There is a difference with juices, not all are created equally. When buying juice, it is important to look for “100% Juice” on the label. If it says cocktail, beverage, drink, or -ade, then you are getting added sugars and not as many nutrients.
Create a Meaningful Morning
I know I have it easy right now with the earliest school starting at 10am for my kids. Knowing the importance of breakfast together, I will make it a point to keep us in this direction next year when school starts earlier.
Dr. Michele Borba suggests:
Designating family’s normal morning routine as “unplugged time” – without turning on the television, computer or video games. Start with just 10 minutes and gradually work your way up to more unplugged mornings.
I hope you will keep these tidbits of information in mind when breakfast time rolls around again.
