With back-to-school season comes the need for on-the-go snacks. There are many snack options for kids throughout the day from vending machines to school cafeteria snacks to the snacks you send. I have found that the best way to ensure my kids are enjoying healthy snacks is to send plenty to school with them so they are not tempted to reach for something unhealthy. This goes for snacks while on-the-go in the car and on trips too.

KIND Back to School Snacks
My kids pack at least one snack a day for school everyday. I like to pack a variety of flavorful, healthy snacks like the KIND Snacks was just introduced to. They are loaded with healthy goodness including whole nuts, spices, and indulgent recipes that include something for everyone with these flavors: Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt, Madagascar Vanilla Almond, Caramel Almond & Sea Salt, Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan, Dark Chocolate Chili Almond, and Maple Glazed Pecan & Sea Salt. They are all delicious, I honestly can’t pick a favorite!
They taste amazing and are healthy with 5g of sugar or less in each bar and plenty of protein and fiber too – try up to 7 g of fiber and 6 g of protein in one bar!
My son actually packs 2-3, depending on if he has gym and swim team that day. He has Type 1 Diabetes, so it is essential for him to have snacks on hand to keep his blood sugar from going too low. With every snack, he is suppose to have a protein – it helps slow down the absorption rate of the carbs/sugars in the snack, allowing it to get him through to the next meal. Protein is good for everyone, as a way to fuel your body with the energy you need to get through a school day, work day, or even kayaking!
I like to keep healthy snacks with us at all times to avoid unhealthy on-the-go snacking. On our recent trip to Put-in-Bay, I brought KIND Snacks with us for in between-meals. They are perfectly portable on the golf cart below or while kayaking!
KIND Snacks also include bolder, stronger flavors too like Honey Smoked BBQ, Roasted Jalapeno, Honey Mustard, Thai Sweet Chili, and more! They are packed with 22% of protein in each bar with 42% less fat than similar bars on the market.
Healthy snacking is just as important for parents as it is for kids! We too need to take care of ourselves and not forget about taking care of ourselves when we aren’t taking care of our kids! It makes sense to keep healthy snacks on hand for ourselves too so that we can have the fuel we need throughout the day without giving into other foods.
KIND Snacks are good for breakfast too. Studies show that kids who skip breakfast are miss more school, score lower on math, and 20% less likely to graduate. Yikes! If your schedule is busy in the morning, take breakfast with you. Be sure to pack a sustainable breakfast that includes protein, fiber, and healthy fats for energy and brain power.
I’ve tried many snack bars over the years, some tastier and healthier than others. KIND Snacks are both tasty and a healthier option. I’ll be purchasing more for my family and suggest you try them too.
