Are you looking for a really cool Christmas present for the cook or baker in your family? How about a fun family gift? Look no further than Nostalgia Electrics brand of small electric appliances. When I think of Nostalgia Electrics, I automatically think of their old fashion popcorn poppers, and maybe you do too. I didn’t realize how many other cool, fun products they make.
You may have noticed some Nostalgia Electics products in stores this holiday season – I have! They have so many products that would make excellent gifts. Nostalgia Electrics products are all about fun! They even have a Fun Foods section that would be a welcomed Christmas present for anyone including: Quesadilla Maker (I have one!), Cotton Candy Machine, Cake Pop & Donut Hole Bakery, Snow Cone Maker, Soft Pretzel Factory, and my favorite, the Automatic Mini Donut Factory.
Automatic Mini Donut Factory Review
I have never made a donut in my life before testing out the The Automatic Mini Donut Factory™ from Nostalgia Electrics. When we opened the box, we were all giddy and ready to get started right away. What could be more fun than making AND eating mini donuts?!

The Automatic Mini Donut Factory is more than just a way to make donuts, it is an experience. It is a fun activity for a family to do together and we plan to set it up at our next party or get together too! It really is a little factory. This machine does everything from mixing, shaping, and cooking batches of delicious mini donuts.
Nostalgia Electrics Automatic Mini Donut Factory Video
Like I said, I’ve never made donuts before, which is all too-clear in my above video review – at least you can see how it works! 🙂 I was happy to find a few recipes that came with the machine. The recipe was easy to make.

After heating the oil in the Donut Factory, you add the donut mixture to the donut dough dispenser. It will dispense out the right amount of dough mixture into the hot oil. From there, a flipping mechanism will flip the donut over and onto spatula fingers.

The spatula will travel the donut through the oil and then up and out into the drainage ramp. This takes just 90 seconds. After the donut drains, you can place on paper towels to drain further.

From there, you can eat the donut as-is, or top with powdered sugar, icing, etc. We don’t eat a lot of donuts in my home but I do love elephant ears from the fair. These donuts taste just like elephant ears from the fair when you sprinkle powder sugar on them. I think it is because I had ran out of vanilla and used almond extract in the recipe I used, it was the perfect flavor. YUM! I can’t wait to try the other recipes from the book to see how they taste.

Like I said, I’m not an expert donut maker. This was our first time trying out The Automatic Mini Donut Factory. Our donuts didn’t turn out picture perfect but they taste great! Once I perfect the consistency of my dough batter, I know it will get even better.
My kids, husband, and I really had a fun time making the donuts together. It was our event for the evening. Then, we stuffed our faces with the delicious donuts! 🙂 I like spending quality family time together with my kids, having a fun activity like this is not only a bonding experience but it teaches kids – even young kids – about cooking, how things are made, math, etc. Learning and cooking can be fun!

We are already planning on using the Nostalgia Electrics Automatic Mini Donut Factory for our next party or get together! I know that the activity and tasty donuts will be a huge hit! I’m sure we will be perfecting our recipe even before then!
