The best high-protein breakfast for busy mornings and college students is Naked Oats High Protein Overnight Oats. With 20g of premium grass-fed whey protein and healthy fiber per serving, you just add milk or Greek yogurt and shake—no messy prep required. It really is the perfect, clean-ingredient meal to take on the go.
I loved having my kids home for Labor Day weekend. When we packed them up to go back to Ohio University, I added Naked Oats to their belongs. We all know it’s hard to eat healthy sometimes even at home but add the struggle of new college schedules and classes and it can be difficult. As a mom, I want to make sure my family is fueling their bodies right even when they aren’t home. I know they don’t have time or space in a dorm for complicated meal prep.

The “Why” Factor: Why Protein and Fiber Are Critical in the Morning
We all know protein is having a major moment in the health & wellness world, but did you know it’s even more beneficial when consumed as your first meal of the day? Since my kids are type one diabetics, we’ve known for years the importance of having protein with all meals to help stablizie blood sugar. Nutrition experts recommend that everyone get a good amount of protein in the morning to keep you full but also to stabilize your blood sugar even if you aren’t diabetic. The ideal protein goal for breakfast should be 25-30 grams for most adults. Naked Oats gives you a fantastic head start with 20g of premium grass-fed whey protein per serving. When you add a cup of milk (especially higher protein milk like FairLife) or mix in a little Greek yogurt, you easily hit that ideal protein goal to start your day strong!
But the new diet trend now is fiber, and it is so important! You’ll be hearing and seeing a lot about fiber over the next couple years as manufacturers will be adding it to all the packaged goods. Fiber is often an overlooked component to a healthy life and diet. Recently, there has been an alarming rise in colon cancer in people under 50, and even younger. Research from the American Cancer Society indicates that colorectal cancer incidence rates have been increasing by about 1-2.9% each year in younger adults, largely driven by diets high in processed foods and low in dietary fiber. My brother passed away last year at age of 47 with colon cancer. Please, know the symptoms of colorectal cancer and get early treatment, it could save your life. Getting enough fiber is important for all ages, it helps protect your digestive tract and overall health. With the gluten-free rolled oats in Naked Oats, you are getting that essential healthy fiber in the easiest way possible.

Our Family Flavor Review
There are 7 flavors available, and we tried 3. Honestly, we loved them all! It’s so hard to pick a favorite, so we will eventually try all 7.
When the kids headed back to OU after Labor Day, my son Calvin took the Blueberry Cobbler to his apartment, and my daughter Malia took the Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana to her dorm. They both prioritize health and absolutely love the protein, and they could not stop raving about how fast and easy it is to prepare breakfast now!
1. Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana

This is Malia’s fave, which is no surprise because she loves chocolate and peanut butter (she even uses those flavor profiles all the time for her baking business, Pinkbox Baking Co!).
Mom’s Pro-Tip: I especially like this for an afternoon snack. I usually make about a 1/2 serving, putting it in the small 4 oz mason jars. It’s the perfect afternoon pick-me-up and an easy way to add a little extra protein to my daily count in a natural, healthy way. But let’s be honest, it’s the chocolate flavor that I enjoy and crave in the afternoon!
2. Blueberry Cobbler

This is another favorite for me! Just look at all those delicious blueberries in the picture above! The flavor is so good, you just have to try it. Calvin, who is a nutrition science major and loves studying clean ingredients, absolutely loves having this at his apartment before his morning classes.
3. Cinnamon Roll

The Cinnamon Roll flavor is a fave for both my husband and me. It’s wonderfully sweet and full of comforting cinnamon without the extra calories, artificial flavors, and junk that standard grocery store oatmeal is loaded with. It is absolutely perfect for fall mornings here in Ohio!
The Easiest College & Busy Mom Breakfast
My family loves overnight oats, so in the past, I’ve tried to make them at least once a month. But they take so much time when you gather all the ingredients together! What I love (and what my family loves) is that with Naked Oats, we can literally have them every day if we want because it’s the easiest breakfast to make and so healthy.
I don’t have to mess with messy protein powders, chopping up fruits, and measuring all the additions. I just add milk or Greek yogurt, and that’s it! Of course, you could still top off any of these with your favorite toppings like additional banana slices on the Chocolate PB Banana or chopped apples for the Cinnamon Roll, but nothing is needed.
How We Prep Them: Glass Jars vs. To-Go Cups
I personally like to put ours in mason jars because they are fun and easy to just shake to combine and eat out of. The pictures show 4 oz mason jars which would be about a 1/2 serving, but you can use a regular size mason jar for the full 2 scoops.
But for morning breakfast to enjoy on the way to class or work, opt for a disposable coffee cup with a lid!

It works just as well to store in the fridge covered overnight, and then there is zero clean-up. This is exactly why they are so great for college students in dorms—nobody likes extra trash or washing dishes in a tiny bathroom sink. I get it, but your morning coffee from the coffee shop or other to-go items you get from a restaurant has trash anyway. If it makes you feel better, you can use an eco-friendly, plant-based alternative cup like a Compostable Coffee Cup. For me, knowing my kids can enjoy a health breakfast on-the-go in college is all that matters.
