NuWave Oven Review

I was excited to test out the NuWave Oven. If it saves me time in the kitchen while allowing me to prepare healthy, delicious foods for my family, it’s a keeper!

What I was most excited about was the time saving element of the NuWave Oven. For me, defrosting meat and pre-heating the oven is a huge time-killer. Even a simple 30 minute recipe easily becomes 1 hour when adding these two factors. With the NuWave, I can cook meats frozen!

Cooking Frozen Salmon in NuWave Oven

One food that I find a hassle to cook is salmon. I usually buy salmon frozen and since the the best way to defrost salmon is in cold water, it takes a long time. I had planned on making Salmon tonight for dinner. The Nuwave Oven comes with a cookbook and recipe cards. I found a recipe for Salmon Basquaise that I planned on making for dinner.

After getting home late from taking my daughter to gymnastics, I really just wanted to make something quick. I almost decided against this recipe. After I cut up fresh onions, peppers, and tomatoes, I placed them in a dish with the salmon. I went on to make a couple quick sides of rice and steamed spinach. The frozen salmon was cooked before my simple sides, in about 20 minutes.

Again, I had the same outcome. My family agreed that it was the best salmon we’ve ever had. Not only was the delicious easy and delicious but it cooked so fast. There is nothing I could have made quicker tonight than this dish and definitely nothing as healthy and delicious.

I really feel like the NuWave Oven is going to change my cooking habits for the good of my family.

Cooking Frozen Whole Chicken in NuWave Oven

I’ve never had much luck cooking a whole chicken before, they always turn out a little dry. Cooking with the NuWave Oven was simple. Components of the NuWave Oven are dishwasher safe, for even faster clean up,  you can line everything with aluminum foil.

NuWave has a cooking club for those that purchase the oven. Even though you can use your own recipes, it was nice to have great recipes to try out until I get use to how quick it cooks foods. I chose The Perfect Roasted Chicken Recipe with carrots, onions, celery, and potatoes.

Simply season the chicken and place on the NuWave Oven rack. Cook and turn over 1/2 way through. For thawed chicken, it is 15-17 minutes per pound or for frozen, 25-30 minutes. For my 3-1/2 lb chicken, it took a little less than 1 hour 20 minutes. It would have been about 50 minutes for a thawed chicken.

It was so neat to watch the chicken cook from all sides. My kids thought it was really fun to watch the progress of the chicken. You could see the fat drippings falling off of the chicken too. I like that this oven allows me to cook faster and healthier for my family. Although it doesn’t heat up the kitchen like a traditional oven, it does fill the room with the delicious smells!

So, how did it taste? Delicious! My whole family agrees that this was the best whole chicken we’ve ever had, including mine and the rotisserie chickens we buy from the grocery stores. It was so tender that the meat just fell right off the bones. It was so juicy and flavorful. If the NuWave could only cook chicken, it would be worth it!

Pumpkin Bread and Muffins Baked in NuWave Oven

My first baking attempt with the NuWave Oven was with a recipe that came with the NuWave for Pumpkin Bread and Muffins.  I like that there are a variety of recipes that come with the NuWave Oven. This recipe was simple and included yellow cake mix. My daughter enjoyed helping me make this recipe.

We tried out the new Welcome Home Brands Paper Bakeware mini loaf and cupcake bakeware.  You don’t need to use anything as special as the paper bakeware, however it made it really easy.  You can also use loaf pans in metal or silicone as well as cupcake liners.

While my husband got the kids dressed in their pajamas, the cupcakes and bread cooked. We had delicious warm cupcakes in just 12 minutes. As a comparison, I baked another loaf in my conventional oven. We were eating our cupcakes when my oven finally was preheated! Then, it took another hour before it was even done. I just keep getting more and more impressed by the NuWave Oven!

My family agrees that the NuWave Oven is an amazing invention that delivers delicious, healthy foods while saving time in the kitchen, money on electricity, and being more ‘green’ for the environment.
