Taste Buds Review of Raisels

Raisels will really get your taste buds going as you pucker up to the sweet and sour tastes of 4 flavors: Sour Peach, Sour Lemon, Sour Apple, & Sour Orange. I wasn’t sure what to expect the first time I tasted Raisels. I thought it might be just a fruitier tasting raisin. It was like nothing I had expected! As a kid, I liked Lemon Drops, Cry Babies, and other sour candies. One bite of Raisels and I was taken back to my childhood days of sour candy! I loved it!

My kids absolutely flipped over Raisels, they liked that mom was letting them try 4 new kinds of sour “candy”! What could be better than that? I’ll tell you. Raisels are not candy! Kids just think they are. Both kids liked them, Elijah is addicted! He keeps sneaking them like they are candy and I have to limit them or he would eat 2 or 3 boxes in one day!

We have tasted and eaten about 1/2 of each of the 4 6-packs. Of them all, the Sour Lemon is my favorite. They remind me a lot of Lemon Heads, a favorite as a child. Elizabeth likes the Sour Apple best, her favorite juice and fruit. Elijah likes them all equally and has consumed the most! Just look at how much fun they are in the picture above. I asked him if I should tell moms to buy these for their kids and he said, “Yes, they need to buy these for their kids for sure!

What are Raisels?

Obviously, they can’t just be raisins, so what are Raisels? Well, it is 100% real fruit. Raisels are rich in antioxidants, fat free, cholesterol free, and contain no sodium or high fructose corn syrup or artificial sweeteners.  Raisels provide 100% recommended daily allowance for Vitamin C and are Kosher Certified.

Raisels are fruit-flavored golden raisins with a light dusting of sugar. That’s what the kids like – the flavor and sugar. After tasting a Raisel, you might think that it is coated in a ton of sugar. Nope, 90% of the sugar is naturally found in raisins, about 21 grams per 35 gram serving. The added dusting of sugar is just 10% of the total weight. This is a tiny % of sugar that will make your kids reach for Raisels instead of cookies, candies, and soft drinks that contain Way more sugar. In fact, Raisels has less sugar than a serving of Yoplait original strawberry yogurt, an apple, and 1.5 oz bar of Hershey’s Milk Chocolate. In fact, sweetened dried cranberries have 5X more added sugar than Raisels.  Raisels satisfy the desire for sugar while remaining a healthier alternative!

Raisels were a big hit in my family, we are officially hooked on them. They are the right portion size for school lunches, an easy snack to take on a hike or in the car, and a perfect treat for kids (and adults).

Our comment is to be on a dish we’d like to try: Raisels would be great in an update of the old-fashioned GORP mix (good old raisins and peanuts)

The Sour Watermelon Shock sounds good. I liked the picture in the FAQ section, it is a fun way to show what Raisels are all about.
