I was thrilled to hear from Imagination Publishing Group about their new book and CD, Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy. My kids love to read books, we read about 6 books per child every day, so I was just as happy to get a new book as they were!
When Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy arrived, it came with some great surprises including Danny stickers, bookmarks, door hangers, pencils, and stickers. These special add-ons are included in all purchases made at DannyTheDragon.com. My kids really enjoy the door hangers and bookmarks, they make them feel ‘grown-up’.
Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy Book & Dreams CD Hands-on Review
Before bedtime, I snuggled up with Elijah (5) and Elizabeth (3) to read the book and listen to the CD. The book held their attention from cover to cover. The story was very creative and kept the kids wanting to know what was going to happen next.
It is a delightful story about a family at the beach, the young boy, Jimmy finds a shell that talks to him, he brings the shell home with him and tries several ways to get the shell to talk again. Finally, at dinnertime, the family is very surprised when the shell talks again and out pops a large and friendly dragon with his side-kick navigator, Skipper. The story goes about the family’s normal everyday activities, incorporating a theme of good manners and respect throughout.
I expected an awesome adventure to occur when the dragon popped out but my kids enjoyed the slower, normal everyday type of setting the book offered. Elijah’s favorite part was when Jimmy sprayed Danny and Skipper with water and they returned to the shell. Elizabeth’s favorite part was when they popped out of the sea shell, which I have to agree was also my favorite part.
The illustrations from Aija Jasuna were whimsical and fit the story well. I was taken aback by how proper the English was throughout the book, this is not something seen often in children literature. It was refreshing.
The Dreams Audio CD includes a well narrated version of Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy with sound effects. My kids could follow along with the story easily as it kept their attention. There are 10 classical pieces that conclude the CD that Elizabeth has enjoyed falling asleep to for the past several nights. We have also enjoyed listening to this CD during quiet play time in the afternoon this past week. Profits from the Dreams Audio CD go to support research and raise awareness of celiac disease, Columbia University- Celiac Disease Center, Dr. Peter Green.
On a personal note, I thought it was kinda cool that the mommy in the picture had red hair, father had brown, son had light brown, and daughter had blonde, just like my little family.

Will you continue to visit schools and libraries?
We are currently taking our two puppies and dogs through training to become Canine Citizens, a series of classes to allow qualified dogs to attend hospitals. Besides visiting schools and libraries, I will be able to visit ill children with one of the pups and read Danny the Dragon to them. This is just another way I can be out there helping to put a smile on people’s faces and lightening their hearts with some “fun and imagination.”
