There are many benefits of driving the scenic route, including the chance to win a Prius v! My family enjoys traveling and the great outdoors. We often ext the highway to take a more scenic route around town and while on vacation. You can really appreciate the trip more when you drive through the towns instead of around. I was given the opportunity to share the Exit the Highway campaign in exchange for a promotional item for this post.

Toyota and the National Audubon Society are encouraging people this Summer to get out and enjoy the world beyond the highway. America’s highways are great at connecting us to far-away places, but it is the hidden gems that you’ll find when you Exit the Highway.
I’m always talking about the parks and trails all around the Akron area and encouraging people to check them out. I am always surprised when we find an awesome trail, waterfall, or playground and can’t wait to share with you.
The Exit the Highway program is a perfect fit for my family and actually the majority of Americans. 85% of Americans wish they could spend more time outside relaxing in nature. 79% of Americans are willing to drive up to 100 miles for a new scenic destination to explore.
That is where the “Nature Near You” map comes into play. It is a crowd sourced so you can find the ‘off the beaten path’ hidden gems that aren’t advertised or promoted. Some of the best places to visit are found by word of mouth. I’m excited to see how the Nature Near You map gives all of us the chance to hear the best places to visit and gives us a voice to share our favorite places with others as well. I added two of my favorite parks, Brandywine Falls and Virginia Kendall Ledges.
