BaByliss Tourmaline Ceramic Professional Curling Iron Review

I was given the opportunity from Flat Iron Experts to review another one of their excellent hair styling products. Curls are back and I’m happy to share my review on the BaByliss Tourmaline Ceramic Professional Curling Iron.

The BaByliss Tourmaline Ceramic Professional Curling Iron not only delivers gorgeous, long last curls, it is also is better for your hair.

Here is the science behind why this product is good for your hair.  The barrel is made of pure tourmaline gem stones fused with ceramic to deliver the amazing benefits of natural ions. The tourmaline delivers negative ions so that your hair isn’t frizzy. Your curls will look smooth and luscious because the negative ions close the cuticle of your hair. The far infrared heat is what gives you faster results with less damage to your hair, preserving the moisture in your hair.

Hands On Review of BaByliss Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron

I love my hair curly and usually it stays curled for about the first hour then my hair does the flops. The number one reason I like the BaByliss Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron is because of the ion technology. It actually holds the curl longer in my hair. Besides that, any heating product that won’t dry my hair out and is safer for my hair is a big deal since I style my hair with heating products every day.

When I read the instructions, it stated that your best look begins with a good hair cut. Lucky for me, I was due for a hair cut. I tried this product with very long hair and again after cutting off 6 inches.

Using the BaByliss Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron was easy. It’s an easy clasp on the barrel and my hair rolls on smoothly. I love the 360ºF swivel extra long 9′ cord. I’m not limited on where I can style my hair with the extra long cord, it’s just a nice feature.

I also like the 40 heat settings. I can select the right temperature for my hair type to get the best results from this curling iron. Since my hair is very thick, I use the temperature setting of 35.  If your hair is fragile is fine, you can choose temperature 1-5.

I usually start curling my hair at the top of my head on my right side. I take about 1″ sections being sure to wrap my hair is fully wrapped around the spoon of the barrel, otherwise the ends will look crimped. Keep each section rolled for about 8-10 seconds for a great, long lasting curl. Don’t mess with the curl, just go on to the next 1″ section. I usually spray my hair with hairspray after doing each major section of my head. Let each curl cool before messing with it. Curling my entire head of hair usually takes 10-15 minutes. After the curls have cooled, I flip my head down and back up. Then, I finger comb the curls being careful not to pull on my hair.  Then I use a finishing hair spray on the entire hair.

I liked the results of loose, shiny curls with lots of body. I also like that the curls stay and don’t fall out quickly like cheaper models I’ve used. Having a professional grade curling iron not only delivers excellent curls but it retains the curls longer and is healthier for your hair. When you compare the prices, for what this curling iron does, there is not really that big of a price difference.

Like I said, I was due for a hair cut. When my hair gets too long, it gives me horrible headaches so I had to get it cut. I had 6 inches cut from the length of my hair. The BaByliss Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron instructions state that this size iron works best with hair 6-8 inches long. I always wrongly assumed that you could only use a large barrel with very long hair. I normally use a .75″ barrel and would love to try this iron in that size to see a tighter curl with my very long hair.

I found the curling iron easier to use on my shorter hair. The results were more what I expected as well, lots of great curls. My hair is about 8 inches long and I found that the instructions were right. This is an ideal length for the 1-1/2″ barrel.

I think my hair looks healthier when it is curled and I feel great with lots of big, soft curls in my hair.
