Have you thought about your tooth enamel yet today? No? Well, maybe you should. Tooth enamel is what protects your teeth from decay, so it is important to know how to take care of it. After all, your teeth only gets one set of tooth enamel – you can’t regrow it.
I received product to facilitate this post.
How to Protect Tooth Enamel
Avoid damaging foods and beverages
Try to avoid substance that stick to your teeth, sugary foods, and acidic fruits and beverages. If you must consume, brush afterward. (My dentist in college told me it was best to drink a soda all at once, then brush my teeth about 30 minutes afterward, rather than sip a soda over the course of the evening. Best advice ever!)
Avoid Hard or Chewy Foods
Hard and chewy foods like candy and ice cubes can actually crack or chip your tooth enamel right off! (I’ve always enjoyed ice cubes but chomping on them when I learned they could damage my smile!)
Practice Good Oral Hygiene
Brush with a fluoride toothpaste, floss, and visit your dentist regularly.
Although you can’t regrow tooth enamel, Colgate Enamel Health Toothpaste actually helps replenish the natural calcium to your tooth enamel.
I ran a quick experiment to show how important tooth enamel is and what it is like without it with ceramic tile.
I took a piece of chalk and wrote “AOM” on both a smooth and rough tile to demonstrate how germs attach to both surfaces. There is a HUGE difference and that is exactly what it is like with our tooth enamel.
Basically, without enamel, our teeth are susceptible to germs and tooth decay. Colgate Enamel Health Toothpaste helps boost your enamel by smoothing out the surface of your teeth. Smooth, healthy enamel makes it harder for germs to stick to your teeth!
I use the Colgate line of products and have had great results. I do like to switch back and forth between the Colgate line of products, including Enamel Health. My dentist told me that I had the beginning signs of enamel loss years ago, so I’m doing all I can to prevent more!
The Colgate Enamel Health line of products are specifically designed for the health of your tooth enamel. They come in a variety of flavors too including Clean Mint Whitening, Fresh Mint Sensitivity Relief, and Cool Mint Multi-Protection. All of the help strengthen your tooth enamel and protects against cavities.
Do you have sensitive teeth?
If you have sensitive teeth, I recommend the Colgate Enamel Health Sensitivity Relief with the Colgate Sensitive Toothbrush + Built-in Sensitivity Relief Pen.
My dad has had so much pain from sensitive teeth, it is awful. I received a sample of this product and plan to give it to him to try it out. The sensitivity relief pen uses Pro-Argin Technology to shield the exposed nerve, giving you relief from sensitivity pain.
Do you have a spot that always hurts? Try the pen twice daily after normal brushing to find relief. It isn’t like a pain reliever that just numbs the pain, this gel actually creates a seal that shields the exposed nerve. In just 1 week, you should start seeing long-lasting relief with this product.
