Hair salons are a dime a dozen these days. But salons filled with talented, up-to-the-minute hair stylists that are excellent at all facets of hair: cutting, color, up-dos, and other hair treatments, are a bit more elusive. Lucky for us, we’ve got a top notch, trend-forward salon right in our backyards – Texture Studio and Spa in Stow, OH!
When Texture salon owner, Andrew Pietz, asked me to review cut and color services from one of his newer team members, I said “Yes!” without hesitation. A couple of my friends thought I was a bit crazy to let a different stylist do my hair without knowing anything about them. Honestly, that concern never even crossed my mind. For me, knowing that Andrew has her on board his team of professionals was more than enough.
You see, I’ve been a client of Texture Studio and Spa for about 5 years now. And between myself, family, and friends, I’ve been exposed to the work of almost a half dozen of Texture’s talented stylists. They all provide top notch services to their clients. Trying a new stylist at Texture is a no brainer. So who is this mystery new Texture team member?! Read on for more details of my experience with stylist, Jen Jenkins.
Meet Stylist Jen Jenkins

Although newer to Texture Studio and Spa, Jen is by no way new to the biz. She has been a stylist since she graduated from cosmotology school in 2004. Jen has a warm, welcoming personality.
Once I sat down in Jen’s chair, we spent a few minutes talking about my hair – what look I was going for, concerns about my hair, and the like. I told her I wanted to “kick it up a notch” for spring and summer. I wanted to add a little more spice to my color, but not end up looking “stripy,” as I call it. With that, she got down to business foiling highlight and lowlight color on my hair, and then touching up the roots. The roots are a HUGE issue for me. I’m only 41, but have a ton of grey. It’s important that any color I get completely covers those evil beasts! I was hopeful that the results would be good.
While applying the color, Jen and I chatted a bit. She shared with me that she truly loves coming to work every day. She told me how much she genuinely “enjoys making people happy and feel good about themselves” via a hair cut and/or color. How’s that for refreshing?! Jen’s clients range from kiddos getting their first hair cuts, to retirees. Jen said one of her favorite things about her job is building relationships with people and families, and working with them for years to come.
Once my color was done processing, and my hair was washed (does your salon have reclining chairs with foot rests at each shampoo bowl? Texture does!), Jen got busy cutting.

Even before my hair was finished being cut and styled, I could tell I was going to love the color. The overall tone was a little richer, and the variances in lowlights and highlights were right on! Jen did an amazing job of adding color interest around my face while still making the color look natural – that is a difficult balance to achieve!

My Overall Experience with Stylist Jen Jenkins
I can tell you my opinion of Jen’s work in one word…Fabulous! Here’s a little list of what I liked best:
- She listened to my goals for my hair, and hit the nail on the head! I love the color, and my hair feels fresh and fun for summer. Although she didn’t dramatically change my cut, she did a really nice job cleaning up and texturizing it. She convinced me to grow out my bangs for a new look (something I wanted to do, but didn’t think I could suffer through) by cutting them a bit differently. I appreciated her insight and the confidence she gave me on trying something new.
- She is incredibly efficient, and at the same time, totally at ease. I was in and our the door in less than two hours, but never felt rushed.
- A month later, my cut and color still look GREAT! And those pesky grey roots are still nicely hidden. 🙂
- She’s a salt-of -the-earth kind of gal, enjoyable to chat with while she works her magic.
- Her hours suit just about any schedule: Tuesday and Friday – 12-6, Wednesday – 11:30-4:30, Thursday – 12-8, Saturday – 9-3.

A Little About Texture Studio and Spa
Texture Studio and Spa is the perfect blend of sophistication and homey comfort. Owner, Andrew Pietz, has created a salon atmosphere that is upscale without feeling stuffy. I mean, I want to feel like I am treating myself when I go get my hair, nails, brows or a massage done, but I sure don’t want to feel like I have to get dressed up to fit in with the stylists and clientele! Check out the pictures I took of the salon:

Texture is a full service salon, offering all the latest hair treatments, plus manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials, and massages. They have a separate mani/pedi room, giving a bit of privacy to those getting their nails done, and less nail polish fumes for those just in for hair services. Their spa rooms are spacious and nicely appointed, and tucked in a quiet part of the large loft-style salon.

Texture Studio and Spa is a one stop shop for all your beauty treatments. Texture carries Paul Mitchell and OPI products, as well as Andrew’s own line of Texture hair products. Texture usually has a monthly special in their newsletter. Log on to their website to check out the latest specials. Give Jen and the rest of the professionals there a call at 330.688.1700.
