Eczema affects 35 million Americans, which is about 1-3% of adults, and 10-20% of children. Eczema is new to my family this year. My husband has had a lot of skin problems this winter including flaky eyelids, peeling skin on his forehead and nose (like he got a sunburn), itchy and peeling hands, and rashes on his arms. He finally went to the doctor to find out he is suffering from eczema. He was given a prescription cream and advice to use a daily body wash for eczema. The prescription was expensive and the body wash was so oily. Then, we had the opportunity to try Neosporin Essentials. With the name of Neosporin, I knew this would be a good product.
Neosporin Essentials is a line of skin care for the entire family (ages 2+) that suffer from eczema. This skin care gently cleanses your skin, relieves dry and itchy skin on contact, and gives you fast relief of itch flare-ups. You will see results in just 3 days of using Neosporin Essentials.
My husband replaced his oily body wash for the Neosporin Moisture Essentials Daily Body Wash. It is a gentle, fragrance-free, soap-free cleanser that is creamy, not oily. I tried it too since I also have dry skin in the winter. I liked the way it made my skin feel clean, but soft without the oily residue that other brands leave behind.
He also tried the Neosporin Essentials Daily Moisturizing Cream on his hands, face, and arms. Although much of his eczema was cleared at this point from his prescription, he tried it and liked it. It relied the dryness and created a natural barrier to protect the skin. I tried it too and felt like it did keep my skin moisturized for much longer than other lotions that I use. The moisturizing cream is clinically proven to restore visibly healthier skin in just 3 days. I put it to the test!
My son was experiencing, dry skin around his mouth and on his hands. They were so chapped that his skin felt like leather. Although he wasn’t diagonalized with eczema, the signs were similar to my husband and since this product is safe for kids, I gave it a try. The above picture of his face, you can see the peeling and cracking around his mouth. This picture doesn’t do it justice as it looked really painful.
Elijah used the body wash daily but it was the daily moisturizing cream that I feel did the best job for him. We tried to apply it after bath in the morning and before bed at time every day. He absolutely hates putting lotion on his face! So, I started putting on his face after he went to sleep at night. I know it sounds crazy but a mom has to do what a mom has to do!
3 days later, just like Neosporin claimed, his skin was clear. I was happy to see his face and hands were back to normal and he was happy not to have to continue putting the cream on his face. 🙂
We are continuing with the Neosporin daily body wash because that is an easy thing for him to use to help prevent his skin from getting back into that condition.
For really itchy skin, you can also use the Neosporin Eczema Essentials, it is a 1% Hydrocortisone Anti-itch Cream. This is great to have on hand when you have an itch flare-up.
We were impressed by how well the Neosporin Essentials worked on both my husband and my son. I like that it is a name brand that I already trust and that it is an affordable eczema solution.
