I have no idea how this past school year has completely flown by! This has been a huge year for my kids. They have learned, grown, and are developing into kids that I continue to be proud of every single day. I feel so blessed to have the honor of being their mom.
I saw a few people on facebook post first day and last day of school pictures and thought it was a clever idea. Below are my kids first day and last day of kindergarten and 2nd grade pictures. My, haven’t they grown?
My poor son is suffering from allergies this week and has red, puffy eyes. I can’t believe how tall and mature he has become this year. He is still my sweet, nature boy but he is also a math and science wiz too! I am so proud of him and love him to pieces!
My daughter has grown up and matured too. She is giving you her sophisticated model smile in her last day of school picture below. I thought it was because she was tired of people saying out cute she is with her 2 front teeth missing but she said she does this smile because she thinks it is pretty. I think she is a doll baby either way. She has excelled in school this year as well and is a full fledged reader too. She even got mentioned in the paper as a “kid making a difference” with her caring and sweet ways. I’m so proud of the young lady she is becoming and love her so much!
Today is their last day of school and I’m not ready!! I’m sitting here thinking of all the things that I’d like to get done before they come home this afternoon but can’t possibly finish! I know I’m not the only one, I was just talking with Beth and she has been feeling the same. Don’t get me wrong – I cannot wait for my kids to come home for Summer break!! I just wanted to have more house projects, blogging, organizing, and such done before they came home for the Summer. Beth said she decided don’t to stress over it – great advice. I’m going to go with the flow. It’s not about having everything perfect, it is about having our kids home for the summer to enjoy being together!
Sometimes, I need reminded of what my focus needs to be – it isn’t having a perfectly clean home, it is about being the best mom I can be to the two gifts God has given me the opportunity to parent.
I can’t wait to have fun days in the sun, at the pool, playing in the backyard, and having fun this summer! We’ll do plenty to keep their minds active to avoid Summer brain drain as well with fun learning adventures – at the library, at home, etc. It will be a fun summer, I’m sure. I’m also quite sure that it’ll fly by too quickly and I’ll be writing a post about back-to-school in the matter of mere moments.
Enjoy your kids this Summer! Don’t get hung up on the small things, just enjoy spending time with them. Make a point to be with them, play with them, don’t let this Summer pass by without creating memories. We don’t get this time back.
